About Plymouth Arms

The Plymouth Arms in saint Fagan's is a county pub oozing rural charm and rustic Character.

Plymouth Arms Description

Our lovely Grade II listed pub has great character. It's almost on the doorstep of the National History Museum and St Fagans Castle which has a commanding position above the River Ely. The inn takes its name from Elizabeth Lewis, heiress of a major local landowner in the area, who married the Third Earl of Plymouth in the early 1700's. The Plymouth Arms' location provided easy access to Cardiff and was a popular stop off point for people travelling there in traditional hansom cabs.

User

Thank you to mum for wanting to go to eat here again.

Food " to die for " I have to agree with mum...finished with the most delicious strawberry cheesecake ....which beats Eton mess any day .with a perfect service .

User

Our Twentieth wedding anniversary yesterday, honestly the staff were amazing, we were spoilt rotten. Food was out of this world... we’ve visited this pub in the past and it’s just been ok! Think there has been a change in the kitchen...food was beautiful, just gorgeous... staff made us feel so special... a special thankyou to the lady behind the bar ... will definitely recommend to all... 5 stars from us x

User

Have been coming to this place for years. Whether it be for a drink or a nice meal, I always enjoy a warm welcome, great food and cozy atmosphere.

It was the perfect place to come for our Christmas meal with friends, with a sumptuous festive menu and the open fire burning!

User

Had a beautiful lunch yesterday. The lamb duo was absolutely stunning! We don't get to eat at the Plymouth Arms very often but whenever we do it's consistently very good, must try and visit more though! :D

User

Food is top notch. Atmosphere is wonderful. Love this pub. Love the interior of the pub. The feel about the place is old and homely and I like how it is sectioned into little areas where you can have a little privacy if you want to. Love the historical antique feel about the place. The lagers are superb also. Haven't sampled the ales but I'm sure they're just as good.

User

Fantastic place to eat and drink. Lovely staff, good food and a lovely setting.

User

Could not have picked a better venue for our family special dinner today ,rare to see a lovely open fire, crackling away and cosy atmosphere !,the Christmas 3 course meal was perfect ,the service ,food ,surroundings were 10/10 thank you ,we are very happy with our time there overall and are coming back x already booked for January x

User

Called in yesterday with our family, the atmosphere was fab, the Peroni was great and our meal was excellent. Thank you to the staff and we will definitely call again.

User

Called in here yesterday for some food after being to St Fagans. We were given a table straight away and the atmosphere and interior of the pub was lovely and warm and cosy. The food was second to none for ‘pub grub’. The prices are very reasonable for the large portion sizes too. Would definitely recommend this lovely pub.

User

Went for Sunday lunch today service good , food was lovely had the trio meat roast ..only down side only 2 veg which were carrots and cabbage (1of which my husband doesn't like ) ..maybe add something if it's only a bowl of peas especially when you paying £24.99

User

Pleasant staff, food and service good. Enjoyable meal.

User

Lovely place but service was a little slow, saying that the two lovely ladies were run off their feet, apart from that the meal was gorgeous x

User

The bread with the prawns and scallops was rock hard to which the waitress agreed but did nothing. Some of the meals were very small such as hunters chicken. Kids meals were good

User

Lovely setting , but food poor. Parts of chicken not cooked and not what I expected to receive. Hunters chicken disassembled and chicken cooked on griddle.

User

Food was fine but service non existent could not get anyone to take order for drinks or food when the food arrived couldn’t get anyone to get a drink. Finally waited an eternity to pay the bill wouldn’t mind if it was busy but only a handful of people there perhaps that’s why.

User

Very disappointed, went there with a starving 4 year old, placed our order, waited 50 minutes and no food. Chased up our order to be told the waitress had forgot to give our order in, her exscuse was that she is doing more than one job. You would think serving customers would be the main priority!!!!!

User

Really sad to say dinner was awful . Three phone calls to confirm we were a party of 5 for Christmas Day, but they were still confused on arrival as they were expecting 4. I won't go into the email conformation as well . Food was late , with some of us finishing before other members of our party's food arriving . Tasted like it had been nuked in the microwave for hours. Wrong food delivered. Very very disappointed. Second course delivered before first course was cleared away , table was an untidy mess . We were last sitting and the pub was only half full .

User

On arrival no one was manning the bar. No Menus on table had to go and collect one off the bar. Went to Bar to place order had to wait as there was still no one at the bar. Plenty of staff walking past could see that people were waiting tho, just dismissed the fact. Many years since I have been here. Will be many years before returning again.
