...  Children of Zeus is a soul project from two of Manchester’s most respected artists Konny Kon & Tyler Daley. Konny Kon is a DJ, MC and beatmaker best known as one third of Broke’N’English alongside fellow Mancunians DRS and Strategy. Tyler Daley, also known as Hoodman went from being a respected MC and actor to one of the most in demand soul singers of recent times, lending his vocals and writing credits to music from Goldie, LSB, Soul II Soul‘s Caron Wheeler, Lenzman, Lisa Mafia, Bugsy Malone, and more.
Whilst the likes of Dub Phizix, Chimpo, Zed Bias and Levelz are making waves in D&B, Bass Music and Grime, Children of Zeus came to break the trend and bring a soulful side that is much needed to continue Manchester’s rich musical history. Over the last couple of years the duo have been releasing tracks through First Word Records and their soundcloud page generating daytime radio play and legions of devoted fans.Expect more classic soul food for the hip hop generation very soon!

Would like to say a huge thank you to Sue, Leighanne and the team at Portland House! We got married there the 1st June 2018 and nothing was too much trouble. They were on hand from start to finish, and everything went smoothly. We could pass on every detail and supplier and know that everything would be taken care of, making organising the wedding stress free. The food was lovely (definitely recommend the pulled pork rolls!)

What an amazing venue! I held a charity ball here for 275 people including a wonderful 3 course meal provided by Sue Franks catering! The hall was well arranged and having the columns lit up was a special touch. Thank you to all the staff for the excellent service and for providing such a memorable night! I would definitely recommend this place for any event!

Went to a wedding there last night...stunning place, everything looked amazing... The food was outstanding & the entertainment was fantastic... Had an amazing time.

We held the Cardiff University 1st and 2nd Year Medic Ball at Portland House in March 2018. The venue first of all is fantastic, especially for such an amazing price. You will certainly struggle to find anywhere with some lovely columns and a spacious ballroom for as good a price.

Secondly the location is great in the middle of the bay with free parking around for an hour and during the night.

Finally the staff are without a doubt some of the friendliest people I know, always willing to answer questions and go above and beyond to make your event work and be special. The staff on the night are extremely friendly as well and very hard working, willing to get down and do the difficult jobs. Will certainly be using them again.

We had our wedding reception at Portland House in November 2017. The banking hall is a grand beautiful room, and not what you’d necessarily expect given the venue’s urban location.

Sue and Leighanne were amazing throughout both the planning process and on the day - nothing was too much hassle. Leighanne always made time to meet up to run through the details, and the whole day went exactly as planned. Leighanne ensured the venue was dressed as per our requests and worked well with other suppliers. The food was great and plentiful, unlike a lot of wedding venues.

We had our wedding and reception at Portland House last year and cannot begin to recommend how brilliant, helpful, friendly, accommodating and generally fantastic Sue, Leighanne and all the staff were in making our day very special and memorable for us and our family and friends.



From the first visit to the venue, all the planning in the run up and the actual day, the help we had was first class. Sue and Leighanne were not pushy and trying to upsell as some wedding venues do and really listened as to what we wanted and did everything they can to make it happen.



The day went like clockwork, the food was delicious, came out hot and there was no table being served as the first table was being cleared. All the staff on the day were super friendly and the feedback afterwards from family and friends was that it was the best wedding they had ever been to!

Stunning venue, with the most helpful and accomodating staff ever!

My son and his partner chose Portland House for their wedding in the Banking Hall. What an amazing room! Sue was so helpful with perfecting all the plans and everyone had the best day. The food was excellent, the bar prices sensible and the service was first class.

My partner and I got married here in August 2015 and it is a beautiful venue for a wedding. The grand decor from it's old bank days shone through making our wedding feel very grand. The staff there, especially Sue Franks, did an exceptional job at ensuring all of our personal touches came through and that everything on the day ran smoothly throughout the whole day. We couldn't have dreamed of a better day and that is largely down to the venue and the staff. We would highly recommend this venue to anyone and I am sure our guests would too.

Empty plates all round from our wedding breakfast, with the bride and groom made to feel like royalty throughout the whole day!.

Questions were always answered promptly and nothing was ever too much trouble!

Hosted the Preclinical Ball for Cardiff Medical School. The staff were lovely and amazing to work with. The venue looked great and everyone had such a good time. Sue helped us organise a fun evening and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend for anyone thinking of hosting an event !

Always fabulous events there & food & drinks reasonable priced. It's the place to book for weddings, party's, most occasions, it's run by fabulous people who cater for yr every need. Well worth a visit.

The banking room is beautiful went yesterday to the Proseccuo Festival which was a great day out. Only down side to the venue is the location of the toilets and the fact they could do with an upgrade as could other parts of the building.

Toilets are a major letdown, not enough for the volume of people. Plus up 2 flights of stairs!

Lovely room for the Prosecco festival, great band very entertaining. Toilets are terrible and people struggling with the flights of stairs to get to them, and they need total refurbishment. The whole venue smelt of greasy fried food and the food that was being served was of poor choice. Lots of improvement needed. Don’t think any of my party would attend again..it’s such a shame as it could be a great venue.
