A big thanks to Fermanagh School of Music and Performing Arts, @Laura Browne Musicbox, Share Discovery Village, Drumralla Stables and Art with Ellie Annon for making our recent Lakeland Family Support Service Summer Scheme Week great fun and also to Michaels Diner and Silver Dollar for satisfying the appetites that all that activity built up.
The final thanks, as always, to our super staff and volunteers for all the hard work behind the scenes and during the event to make sure everything goes smoothly and all the children we support have a great time.

Staff from our Lakeland Family Support Service enjoyed a wonderful day at their colleague Tracey's wedding last weekend. Tracey arrived at the church in a horse drawn carriage and following the ceremony there was an evening reception in Corick House Hotel and Spa. The day was perfect! The Lakeland Family Support Service team are looking forward to welcoming Tracey back to work as Mrs McFarland!

It's a very special day for Tracey, from our Lakeland Families Service because today she marries Ashley and we'd just like to take the opportunity to wish the happy couple the very best wishes from all your friends and colleagues here at Positive Futures.
From working with Tracey we know she is full of empathy and compassion for the people we support, focused and determined and full of energy when seeing projects through but she also has a great sense of humour and those sound like good ingredients for a long and happy marriage!
We suspect that there might be a very detailed 'Person Centred Plan' in Ashley's future - possibly involving DIY! For now we hope you have a wonderful day and we'll be thinking of you both.

Our Families Matter Shared Lives Service enables adults with a learning disability, acquired brain injury , or autistic spectrum condition to be supported by another family, or an individual volunteer, for a short break, or on a longer term basis.
Our volunteer Shared Lives carers are extra-ordainary people, who come to the service out of a desire to help others but time and again they tell us how much enjoyment they get out of caring for the people we support.
Stephanie a...nd Martin provide short terms breaks for Ann. Stephanie has shared with us, in her own words, what a great Summer break they have had.
'We’ve been delighted this summer, again, to welcome Ann into our home for a two week stay to help her family members who care for her.
We had an absolute ball, including a visit to Killyleagh Castle, a day trip to Dublin, a couple of visits to Pickie Park in Bangor, another day trip to Ayr in Scotland, some shopping trips and it was all finished off with a barbecue in the garden of one of our family members.
We love being able to support adults like Ann and we know that her sister and family appreciate what is done for Ann - it means they can enjoy their holiday knowing she is happy and enjoying her holiday. We are well supported in all we do by the lovely social workers in Positive Futures.'

A useful list, from the Beflast Live website, of schemes that can help the people we support live the life they want.

Great to be able to say a thank you to some of our volunteers for their support and dedication over dinner at Apache pizza Bangor the other night. We could never say thank you enough to all our volunteers. Without you, we couldn't provide the invaluable care to the people we support.

Just a reminder that Positive Futures is one of the charities selected by Asda in Enniskillen to take part in the current round of ASDA's green token scheme.
If you are out and about in Enniskillen, please support us by popping into ASDA and asking for some green tokens at the checkout, which you can then put into the Positive Futures box in store.
Whichever charity has the most tokens by September receives a donation of £500 from ASDA and of course we'd like it to be us!

Well done to Derry City and Strabane District Council for getting on board with the JAM Card by NOW Group. A helpful addition for people with a learning disability.

It was Lakeland Family Support Service's turn for their Summer Scheme recently when the children supported by the Service went to one of Todds Leap's Activity Open Days.
The kids had great fun taking part in 10 different activities including Zip Lining, Bungee Running, the climbing wall and the rodeo bull!
After all the activity everybody had worked up a good appetite and tucked in to a BBQ in the sunny weather.
... A big thanks to Todds Leap Activity Centre for a great day and to our fantastic staff and volunteers.

The second week of our Brighter Futures Summer Scheme included activities such as, 'Big Cook, Little Cook' Challenge (of course the best part was the kids eating the fruits of their labours!), a trip to We Are Vertigo and following the Gruffalo trail at Colin Glen Forest Park & Gruffalo Trail.
