Potters Newport

About Potters Newport

We are a free house selling great value home cooked pub food and a fantastic live music venue with an amazing roof terrace overlooking the city!

Potters Newport Description

The Potters is one of the few original pubs left in Newport, situated in the heart of Newport City Centre, adjoining the new Friars Walk. We are a Freehouse and have owned and operated the Potters for the past 14 years. The pub underwent an extensive refurbishment, renovation and extension programme in 2015 and we are proud of the new look Potters, with its urban, vintage feel which marries the new with the old traditional pub comforts. Come & visit us soon & see for yourself!

User

We have had Sunday lunch several times recently and it is wonderful value for money. Food is excellent and the staff are very helpful.

User

Mother’s Day meal today was amazing. Great food, great service, lovely atmosphere. My first time there for food. I would definitely recommend

User

I went here for lunch today and I couldn't see anything vegan on the menu

I asked the waitress if there was anything vegan that I could eat.

The chef them came downstairs to tell me what she could make vegan for me and even offered me a roast which wasn't on the menu (i totally went for the roast and it was amazing. The chef even made me my own vegan onion gravy)!

Thank you again :)

User

Fab night band were fab and even got to sing with them 😂 amazing night

User

Excellent venue called in to watch the rugby and have food. The food was spot on and the atmosphere was brilliant would recommend and we will go back.

User

Booked Mother’s Day lunch for a big party, staff couldn’t do enough for us. Excellent food and fab service. Would definitely recommend!

User

Been here a few times, last time Mothers Day. Food is good value and tasty. Service was great, a party of nine on a very busy day, all the meals arrived at the same time and very generous Portions! A very enjoyable experience. Thank You!

User

As usual a first class service provided by all the staff & compliments to the chef. With it being Mother's Day as well, it was non stop for the staff and they coped admirably.

User

Reserved a table for our 'Friends Christmas Day lunch' had a nice time. Definitely recommend the Pate starter if you like 2 courses as the portion was huge and very tasty. If you fancy a lighter starter then the prawns were a hit. The beef roast lunch was delicious, plenty of beef on the plate with tasty roasties, stuffing and Yorkshire pud. The only feedback here is as a non veg eater the meal was plated so you had no choice but to try to dish the veg out to friends to be able to eat the dinner. Perhaps it could be an option to not have vegetables... If you like veg there were plenty on the plate and they were cooked well. Gravy was tasty and there was plenty of it. Service could be improved as we had to ask for our table to be cleared of plates for both starters and main course and even though we chose to wait a while before ordering dessert again we had to ask for our order to be taken. Atmosphere was good but some music with possibly a couple of Christmas songs could have improved this also. We shall return

User

Good choice of pub grub. I had a Tuna

& Cheese Pannini. Great seating area to enjoy with family & Friends. Finished off on the sun terrace..

User

Its ok but not for the rugby...I was freezing!!! the table I sat for 3 hours had no veiw because the racing was on. Would be helpful to put a sign on the tv if your not showing it, for us welsh supporter who came out early to grab a table. Watched it on the roof with no sound.

Great...loving life with icicles on my nose, my toes had frostbite had to go to hospital to have one of them chopped off, where there's blame there's a claim potters

User

I ordered a chicken burger expecting a burger. it was breast of chicken in a bun-not a 'burger' as you would expect. it was also served on a 'piece of wood' it was really difficult to eat and kept falling of it onto the table. what is this fad of not using a plate, especially if you have difficulty using your hands after a stroke.

User

Went in for breakfast on the morning of my wife’s 50th with family, food is well worth it very pleased with that, but attitude on some of the staff is disgusting, they kept telling customers it was not their fault everything was being served late it was because they were short staffed. No excuse hire more staff then you would not have that problem.

And just remember it cost nothing to smile when you are serving your customers.

User

Had a great day yesterday, as always Vinnie and his staff ensured everyone got served quickly and always with a smile. Unfortunately the table we had bagged for 2 hours before the game turned out to be a rubbish view. This was because the tv screen directly in front of us was tuned to the horse racing!!!! 2 men raised their eyes to it very infrequently and were more interested in the rugby (as was everyone else in the whole pub), we moved to the outside area only to find that the sound didn’t work on that screen. Very disappointed Potters and it was such a great game too.

User

Could u tell me why women are allowed into the potters in the evening with flip flops but men aren’t! If it’s a health and safety precaution then surely that would affect women also?

User

We booked a table for 3 on Sunday for 2:39 arrived early to be shown our table,we waited 30 mins nobody came so got our own drinks and sat down, another 20 mins still nobody came to take our order asked a young waiter who very abrupt said we are not taking orders for another 10 mins waited the ten mins still no one ,people we coming in and having their orders taken straight away then a waitress came over to tell us she could take our order but they can't process it for another 45 mins decided to go somewhere else has they were totally incompetent and shouldn't book tables if they can't serve ,terrible service not worth going their went to the tiny in Chepstow rd treated so much better ,know where we will be going next time

User

Very rarely go out these days, but following an amazing early evening meal at the New Lahore, thought we would stop off for one glass off wine at the potters only to be turned away by a very arrogant aggressive bouncer. Disappointed. We left immediately and returned home. His attitude really spoiled the night. Never again.

User

The veggie breakfast £4.95 was horrible, you don't put vegetable sausages on a breakfast. Won't be going there again.

User

Never again staff are vile service is disgraceful

Went there for breakfast this morning with my elderly mother and my 4yr old niece arrived at 10:35 and by 11am were still not served despite going to the counter twice to ask for service they were not even busy 11:10 decided to leave told staff on the way out we were not happy instead of an apology they argued about the amount of time we waited very poor
