Nice walk. Can be a bit muddy, and there are a few bits that people will struggle with if they have vertigo. We followed instructions from the village but it didn't mention a car park which I recommend using instead of walking up from the village.

The Precipice Walk on the Nannau estate at Dolgellau is a classic Welsh walk. At the start of the walk there is a good sized parking area with a number of picnic tables and a clean toilet block.

If you visit the Snowdonia National Park website at

eryri-npa.gov.uk

and then click walking / leisure walks you will find a handy PDF file for the Precipice Walk at the bottom of the page.

The walk itself is approximately 3 miles running around virtually the same contour line throughout. The initial section takes in some breathtaking views towards the Village of Llanfachreth.

It then rounds the hillside and affords views in the distance towards Trawsfynydd before running parallel high above the River Mawddach as it heads towards Barmouth.

This section runs high above the valley. Although the path is well cared for and flat, care should be taken to avoid tripping on rocks and roots. The right hand edge of the path should also be avoided since what looks like turn soil often turns out to be a layer of mud on top of springy non weight bearing heather! If you have small children I would suggest carrying them or holding their hands along this part of the walk.

Eventually you will be rewarded with a spectacular view towards Barmouth in the distance and Cadair Idris towering high over Dolgellau.

If you are really lucky you might also be rewarded with the occasional fighter jet screaming down the Valley as they use the area on training runs.

The last section of the walk heads back to the carpark past a tranquil lake. You can walk round both sides of the lake.

All in all this walk isn't strenuous and as an introduction to walking in Wales it cannot be recommended enough, the views are simply stunning.

Excellent walk for all the family. There's only a small climb up and then follows the contour around the hill. Lovely view down the valley to Barmouth.
There's a short stroll around the lake too.
