At Premier Inn, we’re proud to say we have so many amazing women working for us. From work placements and training courses to leading apprenticeship programmes, we are always striving for them to go further. Here’s just one of the many stories we have to share about the talented women who work at Premier Inn and is proof that hard work pays off!
At the age of 18 Michaela Reynolds was one of 172 people put forward for 19 jobs. Despite having to catch five different buses to an...d from work, this didn’t stop her determination as she worked her way up from Housekeeper to Head Housekeeper to Reception Team Leader. After achieving her Level 4 apprenticeship, she became Hotel Manager of not just one, but two of our Birmingham hotels. To achieve all of this in just five and a half years is incredible.
She says: “I truly endorse this business as a great place to work. I was lucky with the support I’ve had from my managers here – when I joined I was a shy 18-year-old, but my managers along the way have recognised my potential and helped me to develop.”

For Level 4 apprentice and Assistant Manager Neil Hunt, since working for Whitbread, it’s all been about the growth in his self-confidence. Neil believes Whitbread has so much potential and scope for development for employees wanting to progress through the company and that the opportunities are endless. We have stayed at this hotel a few times when we meet up with friends.

The staff are always very friendly and helpful.

Our room was great although the tv was very small and channel selection not great!

The food in the Thyme restaurant was great.

Cardiff is a super place to visit and I would recommend this hotel.

So my daughter and her friend have just informed me that through the night some scumbag let themselves into their room while they were asleep and helped themselves to their belongings including bank cards....as I work for millennium hotels I will be taking this further and I won't rest until the culprit is caught!! Key cards should have the evidence of to whom used it......disgusted is an understatement

User

My first time at this hotel in centre of Cardiff, near shops and visitor attractions and all staff really friendly and helpful will be stopping at this hotel in the future

User

Lovely friendly staff send very clean and spacious room with s view over Cardiff City stayed on ninth floor

Just wanted to say thank you to the excellent night team last night who helped me out when my car got locked in an unconnected car park for the night, leaving me stranded! Couldn't have wished for friendlier or more professional service and without them I wouldn't have been able to solve the problem. Thank you!

Room etc. was decent as you'd expect from Premier Inn, but the team on reception last night were outstanding. Thanks again!

User

Just a quick review of the service I have experienced in the restaurant. I've eaten in there a handful of times now and without exception the restaurant staff have been fantastic. They are great fun, good to talk to, always have a smile and nothing is too much trouble. Chloe, Leah and the rest of the guys are a credit to the hotel. Thankyou.

User

I stayed in a different Premier Inn but met up here with some friends, so used the bar and had dinner.

The food was good, served promptly by the very friendly staff, and reasonably priced.

I have stayed in the hotel on a previous visit and the one downside is the proximity and cost of the parking.

User

Have stayed here a few times when in Cardiff for concerts as Motorpoint Arena is only a couple of minutes walk. Room was good size, clean and very quiet. Food at restaurant is really good, staff are really friendly and helpful and I'd recommend the meal deal, you also get 40% discount on NCP car park which is right across road from hotel.

User

Great hotel, room as amazing 4 of us stayed 2 adults 2 children, steven on reception was happy, even sang happy birthday to my daughter lol, stayed for one night (went to see Little Mix) will definitely stay her again location was great for us as its just aroubd the corner from the motopoint arena. Beds & pilliow amazing as always....thank you Premier inn xx

User

We’ve stayed in premier inns before and they’ve been ok, thought give them the benefit of the doubt and try again, everything was really great apart from the bed was too hard so I didn’t sleep much. Apart from that it was good. Staff were really friendly couldn’t fault them at all. Will try again if we need to stay in a hotel again

User

Great hotel in a great location. Have stayed here 3 times now when attending gigs at the Motorpoint and have found it spot on, the rooms have been spot on and the staff excellent. The only gripe I would have is that if there is any rugby on, the price at least trebles, having said that we found that at X3 price is was the cheapest we could find, but on the whole a great place to stay and would recommend.

User

Unlike some reviewers, our room on the 9th floor looked out on a big blank wall! Judging by the room rate charged, I don't think that there was any discount for restricted view. To be fair there was a bit of a view if you are a contortionist - the windows don't open in this high rise block.

Pros

Unlike a number of hotels around the city this one at least looked finished and the outside edifice in good order. There were several in not so good apearance - one even looked like it was closed, even though you can book rooms online.

Staff generally were friendly and helpful, although efficiency did seem to tail off after a busy weekend.

Food was to a good standard throughout our stay, not 'fine dining' but more than acceptable in a budget hotel with a meal deal plan.

Cons

Why the housekeeping policy seems (in every Premier Inn we have stayed in over the last few years) to be only one hand towel per room, irrespective of the number of guests occupying it. On every occasion we have had to request a second one - we don't share towels at home, so why should it be any different away from home?

Also, where some of the room furniture is worn or faulty, there appears to be a reliance on guests reporting such occurences rather than housekeeping making regular checks. As the rooms have to be refreshed for new guests, there should be a opportunity to note faults and get them fixed.

Perhaps I am being too picky here. After all, Premier Inn is a budget chain and expectations should perhaps be lower but I doubt that Whitbread's Marketing team would go with that.

Please try a little harder!

The room itself and the bed is immense! Such a great nights sleep. However, charge of £15 to park takes the Mick! In addition, they don't tell you where the car park is on the website so you've arrive absolutely stresssed out as Cardiff is not easy to navigate

User

Room was dated and tired. Bathroom could do with refurb. Window was stinking which was just as well As you are looking straight into someone's apartment so therefore have to close the curtains at all times. No air con so requested a fan and was told we would have to bear with them for an hour ! 5 hours later a desk top fan was brought to our room after requesting again. Bar unattended and when you finally got staff to serve it was as if it was an inconvenience. Restaurant was thick with dust on all ornamental shelves and staff were generally rude apart from cleaners. They would not acknowledge people waiting to be served or seated in restaurant and not one offered an apology for keeping you waiting. Ideal location however staff were appalling

User

I’ve stayed here twice before and previously gave a 5; this time I an only giving a 3, reason the air conditioning was noisy and I could not sleep, the pillows were to soft and the receptionist at 11.30am on Saturday when I reported my key card was not working was not helpful. I had to ask on 3 times up and down the stairs before I could access my room with no apology.

User

The staff were good on the whole and the bed was comfy, as was the menu and food good points over. Even though the website stated they had a car park there was no car park and the nearest was overpriced even with the discount (£16.10 per night after the 30% discount), my air con didn’t work (neither did my 3 colleagues rooms) I didn’t get a good nights sleep even though the beds were comfy in part due to the fact there was a humming noise which may have been coming from the malfunctioning air con. The tv was small with missing channels and poor sound.

User

So disappointed, room was tatty and tired, was no hot water, we had to shower in cold water, went down to complain and was told the boiler is on a timer, and had just kicked back in, so we should have water in about 15 mins time, and we also had water dripping all night, even with the bathroom door closed you could hear it, and at 2/3 in the morning it was driving me nuts, so had a terrible night, got about 2 hours sleep in total, but on a good note the room was clean, we have stayed here before, and we were more then happy with our room then, but will choose a different hotel in the future.

User

This was the third time I have stayed here while attending a concert, and previous stays have been lovely. This time it was not up to the usual standards

1. Arrived to check in at 3pm room not ready so changed us to an alternative room on the third floor.

2. No heating had to ask for it to be turned on

3. No hot water!!! Had to shower in cold water before going out. Was told 2 boilers had turned off due to time of day and they weren't expecting everyone to want a shower at the same time. Surely you know in advance how many people are arriving .

4. No extra pillows available due to too many people checked in

User

Think Faulty towers and this place is worse.

Bar staff...bad attitude and totally incompetent.

Cleaners, even worse. They leave no cups, no glasses. (2 days in a row) .

The answer to each question is....my shift finished so it's not my job.
