Would have done 0 stars if possible.Would definitely not recommended if you are looking for a cosy traditional friendly pub!

Waited 35 mins for 2 hot sandwiches which came out cold (Welsh rarebit was as good as day old pizza ) and we asked them to reheat both meals.

20 minutes later both came out cold again. When we pointed out they were room temperature they said were unable to serve it to us for health and safety reasons and offered a refund.

When we asked for a full refund they would not provide this even though we had been sitting there for an hour and had to leave without any food. they did provide us with a coffee free of charge but as we left they burst out laughing- deeply unprofessional and a complete waste of time.

Come here every other Saturday for food and this time will be our last. The staff can't even smile. Our food took all most 50 minutes to get to us and when it did the chicken was completely cold. The "chef" was at the bar so I took my food over to him and told him. He started pulling he chicken apart and said it was cooked through. He came over to our table and offered to re-heat the chicken and bacon. I was horrified this was his only option! I asked for a refund. What I believe was the manager (a grumpy girl with short brown hair) went over to the till took the money out and threw the money on to our table with a insincere apology. Sadly we used to love going to the punch house but now we won't even be returning for a drink.

Friendly welcome, great service. Good selection of well kept beers. Burger excellent, chips some of the best I've ever had. Partners sweet potato fries excellent also.

Visited The Punch House not really on purpose, but glad we did! We had the dog with us and unfortunately not too many places were that accommodating! 😟 apart from the Punch House. We had a lovely meal, my mum commenting on the size of her portion! Really reasonably priced too! Staff very helpful.

Great location old atmospheric pub. Food good but small quantity on Sunday lunch. 3 meals ordered and on only had 2 small potatoes others had 5 each. Staff friendly.

We visited on a very hectic Easter Sunday dinnertime. They were seriously lacking staff. The tables were not being cleared off quick enough. We had to sit down on a table that had the previous diners used dishes on. We waited ages for our meals. Only one selection of meat available, run out of the other two and vegetables bit sparse. Beef without Yorkshire Pudding!! Upon returning later in the day, the floors needed a good sweep from the dinnertime, food on the floor under our table.
On a positive note the Brains Ale was beautiful, so they know how to keep a good pint. The other pubs in the town take note! This is not criticism, the pub has got a lot of room for improvement, its the little things that will loose the custom long term. It has potential to be a first class place, more staff and smiles needed.
