About Pyle And Cornelly Kyokushin

Pyle & Cornelly Kyokushin is run by Shihan Paul Greenway Branch Chief of Wales Kyokushin. Established in 1977.

Pyle And Cornelly Kyokushin Description

Pyle & Cornelly Kyokushin (originally Cornelly Karate Kyokushinkai) was founded by Senpai David Llewellyn at North Cornelly Community Hall in 1977.

Senpai David Llewellyn, (then) Senpai Paul Greenway and Senpai Les Mundy were originally members of Bridgend Karate Kyokushinkai. When Senpai David opened Cornelly Dojo, Senpai Paul and Senpai Les went with him – Paul was from Pyle and Les was from North Cornelly so this Dojo was closer to their home. When Pyle & District Leisure Centre (now Pyle Life Centre) opened, the Dojo relocated to there and was renamed Pyle & Cornelly Kyokushin.

Shihan Paul obtained his 3rd Dan under Shihan Steve Arneil of the BKK in 1990. A year later Senpai David Llewellyn (1st Dan) decided to hand the club over to Paul, although Senpai David still continued to train at Pyle & Cornelly Kyokushin.
Shihan Paul Greenway was given the position of Branch Chief by Kancho Matsui, Head of the International Karate Organization Kyokushinkaikan in 1996.

He was graded by Kancho Matsui to 4th Dan in 1997 and to 5th Dan in 2003. Shihan Paul is Chairman and Chief Instructor of Wales Kyokushin. All Black Belts in Wales Kyokushin have trained, and still train under him at Pyle & Cornelly Dojo in preparation for their grading and to further develop their karate technique and knowledge.

Pyle & Cornelly Kyokushin has had much tournament success throughout the years.
