We are often asked which wine goes well with the fresh fish we now have for sale in our Farm Shop.
The Hake recommends Natural Star Sauvignon Blanc. It is an organic and Fairtrade white wine which has a light and fruity taste. A wine that delivers a refreshing finish with hints of cloves and cinnamon.

Today is #BackBritishFarming Day. It is a great opportunity to celebrate the unique role farmers play in feeding the nation and caring for the countryside.
For over 300 years farming has been a way of life on the Rhug Estate. For the past 20 years Lord Newborough has chosen to farm the Estate's land organically to ensure a better and healthier world for the future generations.

We think bees are the bees knees here at Rhug ūüźĚ
Our Farm Shop not only stocks honey from the Rhug Estate's beehives, we also stock Beebombs. Beebombs are filled with 18 species of wildflowers, native to Britain, which are perfect for pollinators. They don't need planting, just scatter the seeds on clear ground. Also in stock we have unique 'bee' greetings cards, aprons, tea towels, cloth bags and hand made wooden bee houses for solitary bees to take shelter in in your garden....

We accidentally found it whilst snow took us on a journey detour. I had planned on a simple hot snack but after being made welcome by friendly staff we were seated to then chose our lunch. My husband chose Croque Monsieur, his Dad chose Welsh Rarebit and I treated myself to Shepherd's Pie. We all were delighted with our choices. I have never enjoyed a meat pie so much before! Well done and many thanks. We had an attentive lady wait on our table and another friendly face as I paid the bill. The well stocked shop with quality products was great to look at. I would definitely return and recommend to anyone.

User

Visited for the first time yesterday. Was a lovely experience. The food was excellent and the gift shop was great. With loads of choice. Lovely gem in the middle of nowhere.

User

Totally up to date and has everything to offer !!

User

Tasty food and absolutely first class service. It is pricey, but happy to pay the extra as a contribution to the great environmental work they do.

User

My husband has a dairy and lactose allergy and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The lady got out the book with all the allergens in it enabling us to buy products that my husband could eat very impressed with the service thank you x

Lovely meal on way to Snowdonia so popped in again on way back!! Speedy, friendly service, food lovely and very reasonably priced plus a great farm/crafts shop. Excellent ÔŅĹ

User

Love this place! Visit several times each year. Always buy something from the shop, be it food, craft work, books, cards or just a selection of olives. The beetroot sauce is a great improvement on tomato sauce! The ice cream is SO creamy. I call in the restaurant for tea, coffee or hot chocolate. I do however, miss the millionaire shortbread. When can we have it back PLEASE? One day my daughter and I had a salted caramel 'cake?' I mentioned at the till that it was a little too sweet. The waitress told the manager who said we didn't have to pay for it. Now that's what I call service! (And I wasn't even complaining). I have always found ALL the staff friendly and helpful, even the outside kiosk people. An added bonus for visitors is to take time out to drive down the road(Corwen)and filter left at the traffic lights(Chester road) and immediate left to view the historic Estate chapel nearby. It's

interior is stunning. See you next time! Cheers.

I've got to say we had the most amazing meal in the restaurant, yesterday Tuesday 5th September, there was a small mix up with the bread used for Welsh rarebit which was an honest mistake and was offered a free starter as a way of apologising which I thought was a lovely gesture. The Welsh rarebit turned up and I have to say it was simply amazing, the Black Bomber cheese set it off a treat, the side salad was fresh and well presented, the Rhug loose leaf tea was fantastic & even ordered some from the shop to bring home, the staff were equally amazing and very happy to help, we even filled a table card out to show our appreciation for our superb food break, will definately be back again, please pass on our thanks to the restaurant girls, they do a difficult job at times.

Brilliant time at breakfast with Santa this morning. Lovely breakfast, lots of activities for the kids and the Santa and all the staff were lovely and friendly. Our 4 year old loved it and had a really good present too that he Loved! I heard some have criticised this event in the past for not having a Welsh speaking Santa but the Santa even took the trouble to learn. Not that this would have mattered to us anyway. Brilliant morning. Thank you all, would definitely recommend you to others. Merry Xmas!

Premium prices for good food never had a bad burger I must say but to start charging for sauce 30p a sachet is a bit much plenty of good food available elsewhere I must say

User

Only had time to go into the shop, but will return for feeding another day.

The shops produce was obviously good quality, with many organic items available. Some quite extraordinary choices in chutney & jam.

User

Had a chicken from the farm shop, which was very good. I do shop here on occasions, for special treats.

I like the shop here as it sells Welsh products and I like to support the local producers.

The meat always looks very appetising, hence my choice of an organic chicken for a treat.

User

Food was beautiful but they seem to have a major wasp problem so couldn't sit outside to eat it. This meant we had to sit in the car, which wasn't ideal as this was a pit stop and a leg stretch in the middle of our 6 hour journey.

User

Trip over to "Fayre" ¬£10 per adult.. ridiculous... won't be back next year ÔŅĹ

User

The shop is nice but do NOT purchase food from the outdoor food stall. The service there is dreadful and the wait time to be served is excruciatingly slow. We waited 45 minutes to get a bison burger which was not worth the wait. Staff seemed oblivious to this and didn't even apologise for the wait. Very average flavour and charged 15p for some onion that wasn't even properly browned. The girl serving the coffees seemed totally out of her depth. A customer asked for some napkin as there weren't any in the eating area - she was handed an unopened packet and asked to put them out herself! Bearing in mind the type of food they are serving the wait time and quality of food/ cooking is completely unacceptable

User

Stopped for a coffee on a long drive home, staff were pleasant, place is tidy and the single use cups are compostela - all good. But coffee was very poor, definitely not a flat white. Barista training required!!

User

Called in for something to eat and a coffee. Chose quarter pound Aberdeen Angus burger. So disappointed. Reasonable taste, but shrunk through overcooking and close to leather. Had similar at Goodwood a few weeks ago and was fantastic. Standards! Watched what others were eating and looked pretty similar thus had no confidence that a replacement would be any better so just ate it.

User

Always wanted to call here for a bite to eat, the food was really nice no problems with it at all, the place was buzzing with children having a great time, there were plenty seating although the tables were dirty we were sat in an area that was covered where all condiments were, however whist waiting for our food a lady came and emptied the bins pressed all the rubbish down with bare hands then continued to fill all the cutlery without washing her hands I couldn't believe my eyes, surely hygiene should be the first thing you are taught, lovely little place lovely people just one employee has made my mind up never to return that's such a shame. Sorry x

User

What has the potential to be amazing ends up disappointing in the silliest of ways. 25min waiting to order four hot drinks, then waiting another 25min for them to be made. This wasn’t a busy weekend, it was midweek. Outside in the hot food area the chips were like cheap frozen fries. It was really disappointing. Such a shame as this had great potential.

User

Dropped into here about 3pm today 10th June with my son after he competed in the North Wales Road Race in Corwen.

Firstly we both had the Bison burger meals. Hugely disappointing as the burger was very small and flat reminding me of a basic McDonald’s. The chips were thin and obviously frozen.

Given the title of this place we fully expected something more than a low quality low priced quick turnaround food.

Then we popped into the farm shop and bought two loaf cakes. One looked liked a very nice lemon drizzle cake and the other was the date and walnut.

Both tried on the day and both very dry and again very disappointing.

This place was obviously a very popular place given how busy it was but unfortunately our experience didn’t live up to expectations.

User

Bought two sandwiches, 2 cakes and 2 warm pasties which came to nearly £20, all the cash I had was a £50 note and it was refused! I had spent nearly half of it!!!

User

To whom it may concern

It has been a few years since we frequented this cafe. However on Wednesday we were passing and got quite excited by the thought of lunch at the cafe. We had very fond memories of the place. What a disappointment.

My husband wanted pulled pork which was on special board written in chalk. We arrived at 13. 00 only to be greeted with shrug of shoulders.....no we don't have that.!!!!

So we both opted for sausage bap which comprised of previously cooked slightly warmed sausages with what was like boiled onions in a bap that just collapsed. We were speechless where was that lovely smell of freshly cooked sausage and caramelised onion.

Needless to say we will not be returning.

Disappointed does not cover our thoughts.
