Risca Gymnastics

Risca Gymnastics offers a wide range of classes including Recreational Classes, Freestyle Gymnastics and Disability Gymnastics

Risca gymnastics club has been established since 1994. We have had various coaches who have developed the club. Currently the Head Coach is Harriet who started as a gymnast at the club when she was 5; she has progressed within the club to become Head Coach in 2010. Since 2010 the Club has change beyond recognition. We have been able to expand the Club by offering gymnastics classes on Fridays and offering Freestyle gymnastics on Fridays. Additionally we have held End of Year Gymnastics Displays for parents and extended family to watch their children, during these events we raise money for the club to buy new equipment for the children to use.

Recreational Gymnastics

We offer recreational gymnastics to children aged 4yrs and over (Must be in full-time school). We have classes on Fridays (4: 30pm-5: 30pm, 5: 30pm-6: 30pm, 6: 30pm-7: 30pm) and Saturdays (9-10am, 10am-11am) with more experienced gymnastics classes held on Saturdays (11am-12pm, 12pm-1pm)). Gymnasts start with a warm-up of games and shapes, and then cover rotations on Vault, Floor, Trampette, Beam and Bars, aiming to improve their gymnastic ability progressively. Each Term we assess the children’s ability and the children enjoy progressing through the British Gymnastics Association Awards from Badge 8 to Gold Medal and then Bronze to Gold on the Advanced proficiency Award scheme. These classes offer children the opportunity to develop their gymnastics skills

There are many benefits of attending gymnastics classes. Not only does it help with co-ordination, develop flexibility, improve self-esteem but it also teaches the fundamentals of Movement, instils the ability to learn, listen and is great for social interaction but most importantly its fun.

Freestyle Gymnastics

These classes are structured for Boys and Girls. The Classes are run by British Gymnastics Qualified Coaches on Fridays. Freestyle /Parkour is rapidly developing and adapting from gymnastics skills giving itself its own style and flavour. Using a variety of equipment, Floor, Trampette and Vaults. Each session includes a warm-up, Skills and tricks in a safe enjoyable environment

Birthday Parties

As we all know that organising your children’s birthday party is a stressful experience. So why not let Risca Gymnastics does the entertaining while you relax! We offer Gymnastics Parties on most Saturday afternoon’s between 3pm-5pm. We cater for children aged 5yrs + , with an hour’s gymnastics, games and fun in our equipped gymnastics hall – lead by British Gymnastics qualified coaches. Then you have 1 hour in one of our Party /Function rooms to enjoy your Tea party and celebrate your Child’s Birthday, supervised by the parents.

The parties vary in structure dependant on the age and abilities of the children (Both Gymnasts and Non- Gymnasts are welcome). We usually start the party with a warm up through games and then the Children can explore the Gym. Various pieces of equipment may be taken out of use dependant on its suitability and for safety reasons.

Party /Function Room – Tables and chairs are provided for you to arrange as you wish. CD play is available on request in the Party /Function Room. One is available in the Gymnastics Hall.
