So the day has finally come. Tonight we say goodbye to one of Chepstow’s most loved venues. It’s been an incredible few years and we can’t thank you guys enough for making this place what it was. Tonight we will be seeing her off in style with 2-4-1 cocktails between 5-9pm and the INCREDIBLE Lewis Creaven Band from 9pm. Wow some people proper love to whinge don't they - probably just after free food and would prefer to be in a crush with the place rammed with sweaty sqauddies. No useful comments or suggestions - just vacuous rambles. Well each to there own. T



Every time we go there the staff are happy and the food and drinks are ace and we liked that it was quieter - lovely atmos - and we could actually have a conversation. Previously the place was like Spoons with music - played too loud as if that would somehow make it like the real deal in Jamaica or somewhere.



Its the punters that make a place work.. not just the management, staff and entertainers. More rum please!

We had a cocktail master class on a Saturday night in a private area for my birthday. We had a fabulous night with lots of laughs, fun, cocktails and snacks. The staff were excellent in the balance of meeting our needs and giving us time and space to enjoy our evening. Great value for money and would recommend with a 5 star rating. You even got to keep the equipment!

The burgers were amazing! Even the kids cleaned their plates! Excellent service from Helena so we will definitely be back again! Thank you!

Loved it, food was very good , was 6 of use had to wait a bit , but all meals came together , and was very good, took are own birthday cake and they brought it out with plates and spoons for us to use , was 1st class , thank you for a great nite

Always visit the Rum Bar when I'm in Chepstow for food and drinks when I'm with my family and friends! Such good food and loving the new range of cocktails. Staff are always so helpful and happy which is so good to see! Would definitely recommend a visit to everyone �

We had the burger deal on a Wednesday which is 2 for £10 and you can't beat it,burgers are homemade and really tasty fillings! Always good vibes in the place and great service! We love the rum bar !

Pre ordered the ribs . . Wasn't to my taste and straight away they changed my meal.

Good service and handled our group well!

Really disappointed today. New menu and due to dairy and gluten issues we went for salads. £10 for a small amount of lettuce/avocado bits and 4 prawns. The chicken salad really overpowering with sauce/cheese. Chicken really tough for both burger salad. 4 more prawns were delivered after salad eaten. Really slow to get bill too. Such a shame as had great meals in past and lovely central venue.

Where to start, tried booking a table to no answer so emailed, no answer still, so the day before we arranged to go out I rang to be told their emails were playing up. Great. Then arrived to find they had taken away the 2-4-1 for one cocktails (one of the reasons for going to the Rum bar). After being given 2 menus between 5 of us and still no cocktail menus we asked for some drinks, after waiting at least 30 minutes for cocktails I went to the bar to find the cocktails waiting on the side and the waiter wondering around, our meal took forever to come (we were told they were a chef down but having to wait over 45 minutes for burgers were not ideal. They also had ran out of most things on the menu, and weren't told until we went to order it. Once we had eaten our food (which was alright,) the waiter remarked on my partners empty plate and who he would be the size of a house if he had eaten that, made us feel rather uncomfortable. Half way through the night we ordered cocktails to find one bartender absolutely wasted, serving wrong cocktails and one making himself cocktails whilst customers are waiting, I upstand having a drink at the bar but I found it completely unprofessional. I have been here before and had a lovely time, I expected a wait on food but we had Been there 2 before we had food at the table. And if we had just walked out the wouldn't have noticed, we asked multiple time to pay the bill and even that took ages. Do they not want our money? Serious staff training needs to be done. The only plus is the quiky cocktails, when they arent being made by people who can't see straight.

Service was shocking. It was quiet on Sunday night. Waited 10 mins at the bar for the girl behind it to say she can't make cocktails. She was told by another member of staff to read the book & make it. I had ordered a pitcher of sex on the beach & got given a glass of pink lemonade?! How they can get mixed up I don't know. When one of the girls I was with questioned what I had been given she was told I ordered pink lemonade so that's what I got! They poured it in a pitcher and topped it up with lemoade. They wouldn't change it. I was then told it would be £19.95 when I wanted an £11.95 pitcher of sex on the beach, you don't even do pink lemonade in a pitcher!!! Very disappointed with the service received.

I had my 21st birthday planned at the rum bar, I chose the rum bar because normally I love it in there. There was about 20 of us, and when we walked in it was dead. When we got to the bar my mum wanted a drink, she drinks brandy and they didn’t have any, nor jack daniels, nor Guinness or beer!! They had nothing so it was cocktails or nothing. One of my friends had a burger that he had to send back and get a full refund! I was so disappointing because I normally have a good time. I will not be returning anytime soon.

Went in last Friday, wasn't busy yet the service was so Slow! An hour to make a milkshake??? Then the table was cleared whilst in the loo (still some people on the table) and my drink was taken, when I asked one of the staff why he had taken a half full glass he just shrugged and said that no there wasn't one. Manager was a bit rude too, overall shocking service! I won't be going there again!

Yesterday it took over an hour on a quiet Thursday at 5:30pm for a waiter to be bothered to take our food order, we had to grab someone as they wandered around aimlessly.



Then when ordering food I asked if I could order drinks to be told he didn't have room on his note pad and to order drinks at the bar if we wanted any. This is particularly annoying as on my previous visit I went to order food and drinks at the bar to be told that it's a table service.



When this place first opened a couple of years ago I was so impressed with the quirky cocktails and the staff. I'm sad to say I have no intentions of returning anytime soon.

Normally love the rum bar and cocktails. Went to go there last night and waited at the bar for 20 mins or more. My partner and my friends husband were waiting at the bar and a girl walked straight up and the boy serving, served his instantly. My partner said hang on we have been waiting for a while now, he said we'll I'm serving her. Then we heard there was no ice. Cocktail bar with no ice? What a let down. If you are young girl you will get served. If you are a man or in a couple don't hold your breathe on getting served. We left and even the bouncer commented on how disgraceful it was.

Nice waiting staff however, to have to wait nearly an hour for your drinks is awful. The food we ordered came out in good time but half was uneatable, with burn and broken nachos and pitta that would break your teeth! When the cocktails did arrive (only 3 as others were drinking spirits) one of the glasses was badly chipped, when this was replaced with yet another badly chipped glass we complained to the waiter. He was really nice and did speak to the manager as we asked to speak with her. She refused to 'come out of the kitchen as she was too busy' and instructed us to pay the bill and drop us an email! WHAT! Who does that! Anyway after the poor waiter running back and forth to the kitchen it was agreed that they would take the nachos off the bill but, you see 'when you toast pitta it goes like that' so no way would they take the price of the pitta off the bill. So not only only had we wasted 2.5 hours of our lives we had to pay nearly £60 for the privilege. I will be spending my time and money else where!

My daughter went last night to celebrate her 21st birthday, she booked a booth and was looking forward to an evening enjoying the 2 4 1 cocktails as advertised, when she arrived she was told you no longer do it, well sorry your website advises you do, she spent £130 on a taxi to spend the evening with you and you ruined her evening, not only that you deleted my post , no apology nothing, she left your bar along with a few other people who again visited due to you advising on your website 241 cocktails, thank you for spoiling what should have been a special evening.

Absolutely awful service! We arrive at our table had to wait over 10mins for menus. We ordered drinks and food. The food arrive in good time however the nachos were burnt and broken and the pitta bread was rock soild. We had to wait 45mins for 3 cocktails, when the cocktails arrive my friends glass was chipped so we asked to a new glass and he brought it back in a glass with more chips! When we spoke to the waiter he apologised but we wanted to speak the manager. We were told to pay for our bill and to drop her an email as she was to ' busy to come and see us'. She was however in the kitchen and talking to the waiter in a very unprofessional way! Overall an appalling experince and I will never be going back there!

Absolutely appalling service. Place looked nice but that's where the pleasantries end. Food was ok'ish but took AGES and expensive. Staff seemed uninterested and bored. Toilets were crap to excuse the pun - 0 customer service skills.



Having read through a lot of other reviews here it seems I'm not alone in this opinion! By far the worst bar in Chepstow and that includes wetherspoons! And the terrible customer service makes sense, considering the spoilt, petty and frankly sh*tty responses to certain reviews by the 'owner' - highly unprofessional and childish.
