Setting up bank accounts has always been easy with Santander. Offers brilliant customer services and has multiple strengths in communication and service.

Very disappointing. Spent 2 consecutive days in here trying to get a foreign cheque banked and was told repeatedly that it would be up to 2 months because of the way the system is setup. Tried explaining that this was incorrect and should be processed within a week as shown in their own terms and conditions. Pointless though as the cashier and store manager refused and claimed they couldn't do it (without giving a valid reason). Drove half an hour out of my way to the Caerphilly branch this morning (they have exactly the same system), low and behold they were able to do it within 10mins, said it would be available within 6 days and a few hours later the funds are already showing in my account. Have no issues with Santander and will continue to bank with them but the Newport City Centre branch is beyond a joke. The management are poorly trained and do not listen.
