We cover the counties of Caernarfonshire, specialising in the area covered by the Caernarfon and Conwy Record Offices and the University Archives at Bangor, as well as Anglesey, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Merionethshire. Research further afield can always be accommodated by prior arrangement. We can also carry out general research for the whole of England and Wales. In addition, we have carried out many successful research projects in the USA and Canada.

We have entered into an exclusive partnership with tour organisers Celticos Ltd, providers of heritage tours of North Wales. This is an exciting opportunity for you to engage Segontium Searchers to research your family, following which Celticos Ltd. will arrange a bespoke tour to visit the specific sites connected to your ancestors: family homes, schools, churches & graveyards where marriages, baptisms & funerals took place, and places of work, all of which will enable you to appreciate the way of life of your ancestors.

Coronavirus Update
Research
All archives and record offices have now closed for the foreseeable future. Obviously I am unable to carry out research with original documents held at these repositories, which does mean a delay in completing some projects. Any work that I can do at home remains unaffected. I am still accepting new commissions.
... Family History Tours
Unfortunately we have had to discontinue our Family History Tours until further notice. If you are thinking of asking us to arrange a tour for you, then please do get in touch as we are still taking bookings for the future.

The 26th of August saw a change of scenery with a tour down in Montgomeryshire and Meirionydd for Susan Ross of Seattle.
The day began at Llanerfyl with a visit to St. Erfyl's Church and then on to Tyn y Coed, the ancestral home of the Watkin family.
It was then on to Mallwyd, Dolgellau, Brithdir, Corris, Aberllefenni, Cemmaes and Llanwrin to follow in the footsteps of the Hughes family.
... Here are a few photographs from the day.

Catching up on a couple of this summer's Family History Tours.
On the 15th of May we accompanied the Jones family from Wisconsin through the glorious, sun-drenched Anglesey countryside.
We started off at St. Idan's church in Llanidan, which is unfortunately now in private ownership, which meant that no access was allowed. However, despite this disappointing start we were soon on the way to Newborough, where we visited a number of ancestral homes - among them Cefn Mawr (Isaf &... Uchaf) and Pen y Gamdda - as well as St. Peter's Church.
It was then on to Llangwyfan and then St. Maelog's Church, Llanfaelog, before stopping off at Valley. Next stop was Llanynghenedl and Llanfachraeth, and the day was completed by a visit to St. Mihangel's Church, Llanfihangel yn Nhowyn.
All in all, a wonderful day out.

What are the chances of this happening?
Last week completed some work for a client who had family living at Fach Goch, Waunfawr.
Just been working on a project for a new client this morning and what do we find? - family living at Fron Goediog, Waunfawr.
... Turns out both families were enumerated next to each other on the 1901 census!

Excellent session at the National Library of Wales yesterday, researching the genealogy of Jane Williams, Ysgafell. And how wonderful to find a pedigree chart, hand-drawn in 1826 by Jane herself. #WelshFamilyHistory #WelshGenealogy
