Smugglers Equestrian is a professional and friendly riding school based in Manmoel.
Smugglers Equestrian - Riding School Description
Gelligoediog Riding Stables is based in the rural & tranquil village of Manmoel. The establishment is run by Melissa Rawlins-Burles.
Melissa has grown up and been around horses from a very young age, she was introduced to riding by her Father as a toddler and since then, they have become an addiction.
Melissa enjoys competing and has done so successfully for many years, she gains a great sense of achievement through producing all of her horses herself. She regularly competes at British Eventing competions which involves Dressage, Showjumping and Cross Country.
Following school Melissa attended Usk Equine College where she attained her BHS Stages 1, 2& 3 and also her PTT, along with teaching hours she gained her Assistant Instructors Certificate and is a member of the BHS Register of Instructors. Melissa is also a qualified Equine Specific First Aider and has attended the British Equestrian Federation Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop provided by The British Horse Society.
Melissa has taught on a freelance basis for many years, giving her a greater understanding of people, their needs and their horses needs.
In April 2012 Melissa qualified as an Equine Sports Massage Therapist, under the world renowned Mary Bromiley.
Following this Melissa further qualified as a Sports Massage Therapist for people.
Being an empathetic and friendly instructor Melissa has brought the best out of many riders, which prompted her to launch a Riding Establishment.
Melissa on behalf of Gelligoediog Riding Stables would like to welcome you to the establishment and deliver to you the best service possible.

ROYAL WELSH SHOW 2018
Two of our amazing instructors had the absolute pleasure of competing at the prestigious Royal Welsh Agricultural Show last week.
... Both performed amazing, jumping superb rounds.
Laura Simmons’s team went clear and completed the course sadly not quite quick enough, but all in all each member had a super round.
Hannah Lippiett’s team won their heats on the first day to go through to the semi finals on the second day. Their team finished a respectable 4th out of 16 teams.
A massive well done to them both from all of us at Smugglers Equestrian we are so proud of you.

Smugglers Saddle Club is a super club that teaches you all about the stable management care and theory of horses along with the ridden aspect too.
Our sessions are based on the syllabus of the British Horse Society progressive riding tests therefore you’ll be taught the correct ways up to the Stage 1 standard.
10am-3pm £20 for members all abilities catered for.
We’re becoming regulars now at the Under 5s sessions with our two year old daughter Evelyn. She loves it and frequently tells us stories about Tig, Tom and the other Ponies she’s ridden. Melissa and Smugglers should be proud of the well maintained and presentable stables they have, and the empire their building it’s truly inspiring �
We had an absolutely fantastic time today. My daughter didn't stop smiling. The pony Dai was so lovely and kind. ÔøΩ

Olivia fell in love with Tiger and she enjoyed grooming and painting him ü¶Ñ ‚ù§Ô∏è

Thank you so much for the party this afternoon, the girls all had such an amazing time- was so great to see the girls that had been a little nervous at the start feeling so confident by the end! We all enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and appreciated how friendly and kind all of the staff were with the children. A perfect afternoon x

First time ever on a horse today-had such a fab time! Tom and Laura looked after us so well!!
Fab riding stables, and amazing patient ponies. Our three year old loves it there.
Booked for my son and his two little brothers to come here for his 8th birthday last weekend. None of them had any experience of riding and my middle boy is VERY timid and fearful. Not only was the price super-reasonable, but the boys were made to feel very special and my scaredy one was given loads of confidence. So much do that he is now asking to go riding again! Thanks to all who worked hard to give my three little boys a wonderful pony party. Thank you!
Amazing with kids. Gave my 7 year old daughter so much confidence. 110% recommend. Beautiful place, horses and staff!
