Snowdon Base Camp

Nice, large campsite with clean facilities, pits to make a campfire and gorgeous views. The only thing to mention really is that there's only one toilet building and no place to cook your food indoors. Other than that, pretty much perfect.

We stayed at this site in late September and it was the perfect location from which to hike Snowdon. Only around one mile from the beginning of the Rhyd Ddu path, it was in an excellent location in this respect. The site itself is well maintained and clean, with a new shower block with lovely hot showers, although there is already lots of mold on the ceiling. They do however provide eco-friendly washing up liquid and shower gel in dispensers. Payment for the site is made at the nearby Cwellyn Arms pub. This is a little inconvenient, although it is a nice pub. You can also buy firewood from the pub, which is reasonably priced. The major drawback we found was that there was no communal area for cooking, eating or drying. Had there been such a facility, this would have been a 5/5 campsite.

This is an amazing place to camp out if you are walking up mount Snowdon especially if you want to go up via the rangers path. Great showers, friendly staff. At night your treated to beautiful night sky framed by the pine forest on one side of the valley and the rugged rock on the other side. The surrounding water creates a relaxing babble. I'm definitely coming back.

Watch out for the incredibly irritating and rude man who shakes your tent at the crack of dawn if the payment receipt is missing. They obviously don't understand that strong winds can dislodge a tiny paper clip. Perhaps it would be sensible to just have a list of people that have paid and politely ask your name if this happens. Really lovely stay. Check in at the pub where you can also have a pint and incredible food. The campsite has great facilities- clean, hot water, fire pits and picnic tables. Loads of parking and little carts to move your stuff from car to campsite. Right in the middle of the Rhyd Ddu and Ranger trails (about 1/2 mile from each). Couldn't have chosen a better place to stay!

Excellent campsite. Does have a tendency to flood in heavy rain but facilities are excellent and generally attracts a more sensible sort of camper (mainly because of the no noise after midnight rule)

Came here for part of my stag do. The campsite flooded horrifically but this isn't really their fault. The facilities were good and fire pits were provided which is great as a lot of sites stop you from having fires. Had a short walk to get to the mountain but was an awesome experience

Really great camping ground, will certainly my be back. Beautiful scenery, good ground for camping on that isn't too hard or stoney to sink tent pegs into. Ablutions are good quality for a campsite, clean and kept warm which is a very welcome touch. Staff looking after the site are friendly.

Recently stayed at this camp site and found it had good facilities like shower block, washing and drying facilities. Plenty of space to erect tent and has a quiet policy after 12.00 midnight. The pub down the road is linked to it and you can even buy wood and kindling for the portable fire pits they have on site
