Yesterday the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team rescued two walkers who had become cragfast when descending the cliffs at Clogwyn Coch.
The Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team is a fully voluntary organisation who do an amazing job, responding to those in need on Snowdon and the surrounding mountains. The Team is on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and relies entirely on donations from members of the public to carry out this essential life-saving rescue service.
You can help with the work they do and support the Team by clicking this link - www.justgiving.com/llanberismountainrescu e

We were very lucky to get such stunning views due to the weather, it was a beautiful trip and worth the money. Not recommended for small children who get bored easily. Don’t worry about queuing for a good seats, when you get to the platform you all line up according to the carriage you have tickets for, 8 seats per carriage, so not much choice. Definitely book well in advance, tickets sell out very quickly. I can’t see the advantage in paying a lot extra for the steam engine, you can’t see it while you are travelling and you go for the views, look at the engines at the station and save your money!

User

We journeyed on the steam train. Lovely experience the guide was good. It was however very windy so we couldn’t go to the top due to safety reasons but what we saw was fabulous. It was a great and something I have wanted to do for a long time and I wasn’t disappointed.

User

WOW was amazing,! I'm from S.A and my friends from here Wales took me up Snowdon Mountain. We went up with the 10' of clock train Monday 30th July, was bit cloudy with showers and misty on Top , but spectacular. I got beautiful pics in on our way up.I really was on TOP of Wales

User

Visited with our friends from Australia - booked on to the 5pm train and got to the top at 6pm - you get 1/2hr to walk up steps to the ‘summit’ but oh boy was it worth it. A little scary for this 69yr old but I made it to the very top. Breathtaking views before having to catch the same train down at 6.30pm. Wished I was younger so I could do the 2 1/2 hr walk back down but these legs are no longer made for walking sadly. Loved waving to the brave, clever, energetic ones who did walk up and/or down.

User

Unfortunately visibility was not good today but me, my husband and 5 year old son had a great time, it was a real adventure and we had the best view sitting in compartment A behind the guard who was really friendly and helpful.

User

Took the 10.30 train up to the summit yesterday ( Mon 4th june)on a gloriously sunny day.

Having never been up there before either on foot or on one of your trains so didn't really know what to expect. Well when we got to the summit ...the views were absolutely stunning to say the least....could have stayed longer than the allotted 30 mins ...just didnt fancy the long hike down... my wife now wants to do the trip herself so Will definitely be back to do it all again. Hope the weather will be equally as perfect as yesterday. Please convey our thanks to the train drivers on the day. Thank you.

User

Took my wife and little boy who is in a wheelchair yesterday the staff where very helpful and friendly and the experience was amazing to see our boy at the top of a mountain was incredible

User

The trip up was great and i decided to walk down, it was well worth the walk and talking to people who were on their way up. Stopped at the halfway point\cafe and enjoyed the break and scenery. Will definately recommend this to friends. Definitely take a good quality camera, the comparison beween the iPhone and the Canon is remarkable.

On 8th may 2018, onboard the 10:30 steam train, up to the Snowdon Peak. Very windy, foggy and wet, but a nice experience.

The road down was more complicated as there was a technical problem with the train after a few hundreds meter (no danger for the guests).

So we had to wait another train to come up the mountain to pick us up.

Thanks to the train attendant and the lok crews who did an excellent job. Thanks to the manager for refunding the ticket, and thanks to all the pleasant elderly ladies and gentlemans on the train who took the adventure with class.

Even if my original dayprogram was modified due to the longer downhillrun, it was e really nice day at Snowdon Peak Train.

July 2018, clear sunny day, couldn’t be more perfect. We did the return train trip which was a Christmas present, would like to have taken our dog but they are not allowed. Took an hour to get to the top, really lovely journey, plenty to see. Lots of walkers taking photos and waving to us. Had half an hour at the top which was enough for an ice cream and a walk to the summit but if you want to stop to eat you may need longer and have to walk down. Now we are planning to walk up.

User

Husband and I travelled from Talacre on the 18th July and got there for about 10.30. We was on the 12pm train so had food and drinks in the cafe. I collected the tickets, boarded the diesel train at 11.45 and set off at 12pm. What a journey. Amazing views. Lovely journey up, waving to people walking it along the way. You have half an hour once there to go to the summit or whatever you wish to do. We got to the summit and saw breath taking views. Bit cloudy on the way up but they soon cleared. The view was amazing. I highly recommend doing Snowdon if visiting Wales. I would definitely do it again.

User

Great experience! Would recommend it highly if you visit Wales. Just make sure you don’t pick a day where there are several challenges being made...it can get very crowded at the Summit and we didn’t make it due to crowds and people just dropping their bags in walkways. Still a lovely trip up there by train and a lot of fun and magnificient views!

User

Got there for 11.30, collected the tickets, boarded the diesel train at 11.45 and set off at 12pm. What a journey. Amazing views. Lovely journey up, waving to people walking it along the way. You have half an hour once there to go to the summit or whatever you wish to do. We got to the summit and saw breath taking views. Bit cloudy but we saw a break in them and took full advantage with the camera. Just Wow! It's worth going just for that. Would recommend to anyone. (Don't particularly like heights but once your at the summit, it's worth everything, just cling to someone when descending, I did)

User

Fantastic day out, we had a clear day and the view from the top is spectacular.

The station is well looked after and plenty to do and see there, food is good too!

User

Absolutely amazing

Took the steam train which was more expensive but worth every penny.

After my girlfriends walked up and down for Snowdon on the midnight challenge for charity on the Friday, some of them went on the train with me and weren’t disappointed!

The views were awesome and breathtaking.

The lady heading the carriage was lovely, very safety conscious and was a pleasure to have her look after us.

Would I recommend this? Most definitely... without a shadow of a doubt

I liked it coz i love to see a good nature frist of all its my first time to travel around europe so i wanted to see everything in here, but get me sad coz tomorrow we supposed to be go up in the mountain but, had sone accidentaly they have to closed for whole day.and back on next day i didnt make it yesterday i guess im not so lucky to come in the top ...its ok i still liked it and next trip for sure i will go again and make sure i can be there in the top of snowdon

User

Fantastic journey, and stunning views. I will definitely walk up there next time, as using the rail you only get less than half hour up there, they’ve gone to all that effort to put a cafe and shop up the top of the mountain and no time to enjoy the views and stop for a coffee. A bit pricey too, but I understand the cause.

User

Felt a bit duped today. Fantastic day, 25 degrees and sunny with 29 mph winds reported on the mountain forecast so it seemed a perfect day for a steam train to the summit. Tickets bought yesterday(sold out for yesterday) and did the 2 hour round trip to the train this morning. Steam train was cancelled and we went via diesel. Also did not go the last third of the way and were not even allowed out to view and take photos. Read the review from May where they still went up in high winds and wet/foggy weather. Someone is not being honest about the reasons today. We were told it was not safe to take the steam engine or go to the top.

User

Totally understand that weather creates an uneven experience and last minute changes are necessary BUT...we got about halfway up before weather made us turn back. The train attendant said we would have 10 minutes to get out and take a few pictures but didn’t when some hikers onboard tried to get off. Upon returning we were refunded £12 out of the £58 we’d been charged. I was told “I’d enjoyed a partial trip”. Uh, I was in the last compartment, facing backwards towards the engine. I was enduring the poor seating and sight lines in order to reach the summit. The inconvenience is worth more than the spindly offer of £12!!!!
