Have the best meal I've ever had here on a long time during the Victorian weekend in Oct 2017

Stopped off for some food. Ordered from the early menu ( until 4pm ) . Food was great & came out quick . Staff were friendly also. Lovely location. Will return very soon

Food was adequate for myself, but I had my elderly mother with me, and her dinner was awful. It's my own fault I was warned that it was a poor choice, but it was convenient as we had just been on the excellent Welsh Highland railway. Had half a pint of purple moose, that gave me the gripes. Best to avoid unless desperate. Eat on the train! 😝

My Father was there yesterday for the day as he had a day trip on the railways. He stopped in here for a bite to eat, it was 4.01pm. He was interested in the fish and chips that was advertised for £6.99. When he went to order it, because he was 2 minutes over 4pm, he was told that it was now £11.95/11.99. He was on his own and I'm sure with the discretion of the staff working there, they could have allowed him to have the deal.

Due to this, they lost a sale and other future sales to come because word does get round as my father as a few friends within the Steam Train community. It won't just affect YOUR pub but other Marston's pubs too as they will be avoided because as far as my Father can see, they don't need the custom!

Friendly staff , very clean & tidy & excellent food .

Very warm and cosy atmosphere. Generous streak and ale pie. Friendly locals.

Stopped for coffee and cake and a sit on the platform to watch the train leave. Lovely experience very friendly staff, the lady serving was really welcoming and polite

The 1 star is for the lovely bar man who was the only nice thing about this place! No fish so we order gammon, then no gammon !! Finally pick something that they do have 2 wait a good time for it. Food came first, then we had 2 wait 4 cutlery... then for sauces... then have 2 go on a hunt for viniegar.. p.s don't order the lasagne unless u REALLY like salt!! 🤢
