[KNEE REHAB]
Driving movement back into the knee after injury - unloaded and distally driven (by the foot).
A few movements seen here are...
... Toe turned out: - Knee External Rotation - Ankle Eversion
Toe turned in: - Knee Internal Rotation - Ankle Inversion
Just a few of the many movements seen here, and couple of the possible combinations!

This woman is awesome!
Back after MORE surgery and getting on with her rehab once again.
Geraldine does rehab right, pushing the boundaries of what's possible and working at it daily, while remaining optimisic but realistic with expectations.
... Time and effort with never ending small improvements is always the way forward!

Great progress with Emily, finally a comfortable receiving position in the Hang Snatch - fast too!
Skill development takes time and chronic pain is no fun. Time and effort yields great results though when you're working on the right thing with the right approach.
... Great work @emilydickson94!

Great to have Howard back in for some ankle rehab πŸ‘£
Coming to the end of his physio following an injury there's still a fair bit of work to do to restore full function for cycling, touch rugby and various other pursuits.
... Ankle plantar flexion is our first port of call and the first exercise is designed to encourage the movement subconsciously.
The second exercise is designed to encourage plantarflexion by helping the rear foot get off the floor better by offering a heel lift. . . . . . #anklerehab #plantarflexion #movement

[BACK REHAB]
Left hip dominant hinge with @ashphillips7
After experiencing a common lower back injury a few years back, Ash's movement has been guarded ever since, especially when performing bending and hinging movements.
... On assessment it was clear was that Ash was avoiding using the left hip in flexion and internal rotation, and instead would push more movement through the lower back or knee when performing the hinging movements required in olympic lifting.
To help Ash get back to lifting well we've put together a skill development phase to help him learn a more effective movement pattern, specifically for lifting.
Movements like this hip hinge variation have helped us drive movement into the left hip while keeping the spine and leg in tension - a useful skill to develop for lifting.
Since being in this phase Ash has been able to feel his hamstrings for the first time in years and his lower back niggles have subsided massively.
The brain is amazingly protective of us after injury and new movement experiences like this can help us realise that we don't need to fear movement and that movement doesn't have to hurt, as well as developing mechanical efficiency.
Every client has a different story and needs their own unique rehab program.
Onwards and upwards!

[LOWER BACK REHAB]
Right glute, short to long, 3 planes πŸ‘πŸ»
This move wasn't so smooth, but Ash had no pain performing it - a good place to be in skill development for rehab.
... Sometimes it's good to get creative to find specific joint motions - in this case right hip, flexion, adduction, internal rotation, proximally driven by the pelvis.
Why get creative?
Because the hip hinge (deadlift, clean etc) is the problematic movement for Ash, so we're producing these hip combination movements with the knee held in a fairly extended position.
Pain-free is the goal too, and this was one way of seeing that result.

[HIP & LOWER BACK REHAB]
Emily has a few movement issues that we're working through to get her performing better in training and competition, but when we get the hamstrings more involved in her lifts, Emily has a much better movement experience.
The plates under the toes help to shift Emily's center of mass backwards and help minimise knee flexion in this stiff leg deadlift, thus hitting the hamstrings more.
... "All the hammies!!!" was Emily's first response to this move.
The strategy in rehab is always to start where you can move successfully, then build out from there through skill development.

Testing foot mechanics with elite runner @matty_bantamweightchamp πŸ‘£
We're a few sessions in with Matt, helping him iron out a few movement inefficiencies.
... Already away from a problematic ankle issue, our focus now is to help Matt produce as efficient movement as possible to help him chase that 2:20 marathon.
This will be a fun one!
For the geeks...πŸ€“
The lateral walk is testing rotation of the tibia and ankle inversion of the supporting foot - an important part of the supination/unloading sequence.

Massive progress today for Sue!
After the op to remove the meniscus from both knees, Sue thought her crouching days were over.
... Fortunately this wasn't the case - a pain free crouch was experienced at the end of our session today!
Movement transformations like this take time, but Sue has been consistent with her effort so this is well earned!
