Enrichment tip 🐶🐾 1. Fold the end of a cardboard toilet roll holder over 2. Fill with some of your dogs daily dose of kibble/treats. 3. Repeat this with as many holders as you want. 4. Dont fill them all! Keep their nose guessing! ... 5. Set them loose on sniffing and ripping their way through their dinner. 😊
This is ideal for fast eaters whose food is gone in 20 seconds or less. This promotes good digestion, decreases boredom, anxiety and is a great scent game to get your dogs brain working.
🐶🐶🐶NOT SUITABLE FOR DOGS WHO EAT CARDBOARD. For those that do...Stick with a snuffle mat 🐶🐶🐶

Tonights dinner is all about enrichment. 🐶Engage your dogs nose 🐶Food in a bowl is just a wasted opportunity to drain energy, challenge mentally and promote relaxation.

You cant go wrong with the 3 second meet and greet rule 😊 This helps your dog to practice the art of socializing with new doggy friends and gives them some much needed time to calm down, gather information and habituate. 😊

Why it's a good idea to Ditch the Food Bowl 🍽
How many dogs do you see gulp down a full bowl in 30 seconds without taking a breath? 😩😰
If your dog is one of them, using snuffle mats, kongs or simply spreading kibble out on the floor or even hand feeding for tricks is a sure fire way to ease the most common behavioural problems.
... Fast paced eating can lead to many digestion problems including the life threatening bloat (gastric dilatation volvulus). Food puzzles and working for their food is not only natural for them but slows the feeding process down allowing your dog to feel more satisfied after each meal. 😊
Allowing your dog to work for their food as often as possible not only increases confidence but it also allows them to practice scent and scavenging skills. These basic motor patterns are not being fulfilled when an entire bowl of food is placed infront of them. I mean that's like handing your teenager a fistfull of cash every day without them ever having to clean their room or contribute to household chores! But it is convenient...for us. However the good news is these exercises are boredom busting, life enriching and just plain fun for your dog but it also means they're more likely to settle giving you a break after a hard day so what have you got to lose?
Give it a try and see how it changes aspects of your dogs behaviour.
It is a guarantee that when these exercises are done regularly enough and correctly the benefits for your furry family member are priceless. Thanks for reading 🐶🐾🐶
