Step Outside

About Step Outside

We will provide you with an unforgettable outdoor experience which will start your journey into understanding and enjoying the outdoors.

Step Outside Description

We offer two unique outdoor events. Both are delivered by a team who are local, professional in their own field and determined to show you Pembrokeshire at its very best.

Skills Week
The aim of the skills week is to give you a holistic understanding of the outdoors in order to enable you to get the most from it every time you step outside. The Skills Week gives you an opportunity to develop a set of wide ranging skills which will increase your confidence in and understanding of, the outdoors. Initially the skills week will provide you with a half day introductory ‘taster’ session to give you a simple overview of all of the available skills areas (see below). Thereafter, you can gain a greater understanding by signing up to either a half day or full day (or both! ) in each skills area, depending upon the depth of knowledge and level of experience you wish to acquire.

Skills areas include: (1) Nordic walking, walking with poles, camp-craft and wilderness awareness skills. (2) Walking skills such as route planning, navigation, clothing, rucksack contents and emergency actions (3) Outdoor photographic skills.

In due course Step Outside has an ambitions to develop a set of outdoor skills awards. This will be based upon an introductory, or basic, outdoor skills award and the option for individuals to then take a further intermediate and advanced level of award – each level will represent an increase in skill levels and individual challenge.

Coastal Path Guided Walk
On 13 June 2016 Step Outside will launch its first Pembrokeshire Coastal Path Guided Walk – this one will cover 62 miles of the Southern section from AMROTH to the CLEDDAU BRIDGE. The walk will take place over 6 consecutive days with each of the Step Outside team leading for two days at a time. Walkers will have plenty of time to touch on the various skills covered in the Skills Week and also enjoy hearing many stories and facts and figures as the walk progresses.

In order to keep costs to a minimum, the Guided Walk package covers the walk itself. Advice on daily start and finish points; luggage transfer providers and recommended accommodation providers will be made available well in advance so that walkers can make their own transport and accommodation arrangements.
