Sustain Steel

The SUSTAIN (Strategic University Steel Technology and Innovation Network) project is led by Swansea University, partnered with the Universities of Sheffield and Warwick (WMG). It involves more than twenty partners across the UK steel industry: primary manufacturers, supply chain, trade bodies, academic experts and research organisations. We are working together on a seven-year research programme to transform the UK steel sector (which is currently the second highest generator of CO2 in the UK) into a carbon neutral, zero waste, digitally agile industry that is responsive to the fast-changing needs of customers. The SUSTAIN platform is geared to enable additional institutions and industrial partners to join the project and apply for funding through the Research Expansion Hub.
