Now this is awesome !! I hear this alot "at my age now I can't do that" "I'm too old to do this" "I've got this pain that stops me doing anything "
Now whilst some pains and injuries may result in temporary or full cessation of activity, you can normally return or do alternative exercises instead 💪 there is no such thing as a bad exercise it's just whether it is the right one for you and your body !
... You can only get stronger by building and training the muscle tissues you already have ! 😊👊 Our bodies are more resilient than you think at any age! It's about moving and training our bodies the way they need to in a smart manner and keep it up for long term benefits !

I am looking forward to the coming year and hoping to be able to reach out to more people who would benefit from my services.
My aim is to get my clients to a point where they no longer need my support. Generally this is achieved very quickly and occasionally it takes more time.
One of the underlying principals is for people to understand how strong and resilient they are, and that with some management they can improve their situation.

I hope everyone has had a good Christmas and is looking forward to the new year.
The clinic will be open as usual this coming week.

I just discovered this and must say, it amused me. I like a bit of word play.

For those who don't know, the way I work is to identify and resolve physical issues my clients have. Sometimes this takes a while but usually I am able to help people within one to three sessions. I assess, treat and give exercises and advice so that nobody has to rely solely on treatment. My aim is to get my clients moving and coping again as soon as I can.
I love working in this way because it enables me to help more people and I feel I am doing the best for my clients. I ...only suggest repeated treatments if I think it is needed for that individual and always leave it up to my clients to decide. I also like to keep my prices reasonable.
This is, in my opinion, a good and ethical way to work. It keeps a therapist sharp and gives people what they need rather than getting them to rely on treatment.
If you have had treatment from me and think what I have written here reflects your experience, can I ask that you think to recommend me to anyone who would benefit from seeing me? I am happy to talk over people's issues and will readily recommend a different kind of therapist if I think that is what the situation needs, although, there is only occasionally a need to do this.

Training at the National pool has begun again and today was my first day back after a good, long break. I had forgotten just how hot it gets in my room down there!

Today I have discovered that Leon Chaitow has died. For those who don't know of him, his work was what most of my learning has been based on. He was very well regarded within the industry and I was fortunate enough to have attended some of his classes. I found him humorous, scarily intellectual and, at times, humanly grumpy and I am pleased to have met him. His loss is already being felt.

This is my colleague and friend Natalie Greenland from Fundamental Fitness in Bristol showing a stability exercise that can be used for various reasons. Ankle stability springs to mind since it is rugby season once more!

Finally, it's on the wall! My fifth diploma. I haven't got space for any more.

I know I am a manual therapist but don't ever forget how important self defence is. We need to be able to look after ourselves in a variety of ways.
Check this guy out. His skills are... well, just watch. You won't regret it.
