Room was lovely, big and clean..but there is no lift, which isnt great when you are on the top floor..wifi is only in the reception area and we didnt realise breakfast was continetal, we expected a full breakfast, but you can only have that if you pay extra. After paying over £200 for 2 adults and 3 children, I was slightly disapointed.
I only spent one nite there and that was enough for me . Cold all the time and terrible drafts from the old windows . Tiles in shower room were falling off and dirty inbetween tiles . Would not call this an hotel at all . . Never again . ...
Firstly, the good stuff.
The rooms were decent, clean and despite being on the main street, quiet. Breakfast was very good and service was very pleasant.
Bad stuff - Leftover used shower gel in the shower and some rubbish in the bin on arrival. My pal and I arrived late on Sunday afternoon and went for a night out - there is no key for guests to let themselves into the hotel and the management are obsessed with leaving your room key inside anyway. They said we would need to be in by 11...or 11.30 at the latest. We explained that this was not our plan and that we should be in by 1am. With alot of tutting they moaned that we should have let them know prior to arrival and that they now had to pay someone to stay up - like it is our fault that they had no door entry system.
The first sign you see is along the lines of 'Take off your dirty boots', at the entrance.
Despite the room and the breakfast service, I will not be staying again.
The hotel is very outdated. It needs a really good clean in both the bedrooms and the stairways/hallways. The plug sockets in the bedroom we were in were hanging off the walls very dangerous. There was an adaptor plug in one of the sockets for the TV, Hairdryer and kettle. The kettle lead would not have reached without there being an adaptor. The shower cubicle was very small so you had to get into it sideways and the shower was just a tiny drip. It was also dirty so it was a very quick in and out job. It was a 3 bedded room but should have been a twin as the door only just made it past one of the beds. We stayed there because it was Easter Saturday and there didn't seem to be any vacancies anywhere else. The price for 1 night set us back 99 pounds. It was also very noisy. Very disappointing.
