๐Ÿšง PLEASE NOTE! Tintern is open for business as usual. The road closure that is signposted from Chepstow is not until you pass over Bigsweir bridge and move onto English soil- so we are fully accessible!! ๐ŸŽ‰ If coming from the Monmouth direction the road closes at Redbrook, you can follow the old road through to Clearwell and drop back down into Brockweir village to access Tintern. Look forward to seeing you soon ๐Ÿ‘โš“๏ธ

Went on Saturday for a meal, food was fantastic and even though it was very busy we didn't wait long for food. Great pub in beautiful setting, will definately be going back.

User

Thanks to all the staff at The Anchor for making our evening such a success. The under 10s Garden City Junior football team end of season prize giving. Brilliant venue and great food. Despite already servicing a family communion and the spill over from a nearby wedding on a hot Saturday afternoon the staff still managed to deliver food and drink to over seventy hungry kids and adults. Amazing effort, well done. Couldnโ€™t recommend it enough!!!

User

Lovely setting and great value. Service was excellent and dogs made very welcome. Car parking refunded too!! Highly recommend.

User

Lovely pub - great service - beautiful back drop views with amble space and large beer garden

User

Lovely place. Full of charm. Great service and friendly staff. Dog friendly and all the staff loved our dogs as well.

User

Love the new look - really done a great job with the decor which retains the naturally mystical ambience which I've always enjoyed. Coffee is fantastic and a vast improvement on what it used to be. Outdoors is looking better than ever. Haven't eaten there yet but looking forward to trying it.

User

I would highly recommend the anchor. Great staff, food is delicious and plentiful. Stunning inn and set next to the abbey. Perfection.

User

I really enjoyed my visit brilliant staff. and treatment plus I work over at the abbey it self a very nice coffee and slice of cake in the white monk the meal I had in the pub was very beautiful

User

Fabulous place in the most picturesque setting you could possibly imagine. Very clean, brilliant menu, something for everyone. I had the chicken and bacon linguine absolutely stunning. Had a side of cheesy garlic bread, itโ€™s a whole loaf so just a heads up, I struggled with it ๏ฟฝ. I cleaned up with a welsh cheese board, it was top notch! And birra moretti on tap is an absolute bonus! All the staff are very welcoming and very helpful. I canโ€™t recommend this place enough. Easily my favourite place in the uk, and itโ€™s right on my doorstep! Thanks to the team for giving us a fantastic feast! We will be back soon! ๏ฟฝ

User

Excellent place to stop overnight in our motorhome. Staff all very helpful and friendly. We had a good meal in the pub. Lovely location, right next to the Abbey and the river.

User

Beautiful setting, didnโ€™t eat at the time but it looks great and would love to go back and try the food.

User

Amazing pub we found by chance on an excursion in the snow. Staff were absolutely fabulous and so lovely. You can redeem your ยฃ3 parking if you buy drinks or food in there too. Food was exceptionally good and the kitchen even managed to give everyone in our group pigs in blanket even though they didn't come with our meal!

They suffered a powercut during dessert but once again the staff were quick to provide candles (it might've actually been better in the dark!)

Cannot recommend highly enough! Will definitely return. Fantastic pub!

User

Lovely location and very smart inside with a blend of the new and the old. Staff were very pleasant and tried hard. Some needed a bit more experience to adapt quicker to large numbers at the bars and tables.

Food was very good and great value for money. Had to wait a little while longer than I would normal like, but it was very busy. Maybe three chefs on a holiday weekend is not quite enough.

User

Good value for money. Very pleasant and helpful and attentive staff. During a hot summer there is plenty of space to dine al fresco!

User

Good for gluten free. Could do without food served on slate with sauce dripping off the edges. Very heavy with the dressing, which spoiled it somewhat. Prices are very reasonable for the area. Nice surroundings.

User

We visited The Anchor today, and yes, I get it was a hot bank holiday so it would be busy, but please please try and get some more staff! Even though we had booked a table in advance we still waited an hour for our food to arrive - we had a three year old with us, and although you bought her food as soon as it was ready, that still took 50 mins to arrive. When the food came, it was excellent so no complaints there! But even though i was keen to try the waffles for dessert, noone came back to us so we went and paid at the bar and left. If we had just turned up with no booking and wanted food, yes I would expect to wait, but for a pre booked table I was really disappointed.

User

Looks great, but under staffed. We ordered food which took sometime as the staff were rushed off there feet. they ran out of table numbers.Staff just walking pass you and not even acknowledging you were standing there. When food arrived, fish was swimming in oil, i used an handful of napkins to soak it up. Chips were as bad. My husband chicken was so over cooked it was in edible. Hope they get there issue sorted before the busy season really starts. :(

User

Went to the Anchor for dinner with My husband & friends, we waited almost 10mins to be seated at our table, that I had pre-booked. Staff walked past us several times before even attempting to make eye contact & ask if we had a table booked. We then waited a further 20mins before the waitress came to take our order! The waitress however was their saving grace, very polite & apologetic, clearly over worked & in need of a break. We could over hear the woman on the table next to us, loudly complaining about the service & how the order they placed had come out wrong. We however throughly enjoyed our food.

We live locally & Tintern becomes very busy in the warmer months especially this pub. I really hope they have more well trained staff by then because itโ€™s a beautiful place & itโ€™s such a shame they are let down by very poor service!

User

Very under staffed, after a 15 minute wait at the bar was told they weren't taking any more food orders as the kitchen was too busy (we only wanted a bowl of chips). My partner went to change our little boy to be told he couldn't use the changing facilities as they are located in the womens toilets... surely would make more sense to put them in the shared disabled toilet like most restaurants do.
