The Ark Youth And Community Project

About The Ark Youth And Community Project

The ARK Youth and Community Project is a locally based charity in the Rhondda Valleys, working and supporting young people and the wider community.

The project began in the Autumn of 2002 with the aim of providing a one stop shop advice centre for the residents of Mid Rhondda. The ARK Youth and Community Project is an ambitious plan to establish a multi functional facility in the heart of one of the most deprived areas of the UK. We enjoy widespread support from organisations directly involved in delivering front line services.

We aim to offer a safe and inclusive environment for young people and the wider community that offers opportunities for recreation, employment, community education and diversions from substance misuse.

Our main areas of service are:

- The Positive Choices mentoring and Advocacy Programme; supporting people experiencing life difficulties to help them produce positive choices in their current situations to 'be the best me I can be'

- Holiday Playschemes; Open access play-schemes across the villages of Llwynypia, Cymmer and Wattstown available during school holidays for children and young people aged 5 to 14 (please check the web-site for more details)

- Combine House; our town centre youth drop-in for young people aged 13 + to be warm, have a chill and a good time between 7pm and 10pm on a Friday evening 48 weeks of the year

- Youth Clubs; we have two youth clubs on a Wednesday evening for different age groups, please check the web-site for more details and transport times.
