About The Attic Studio

Recording Studio / Music and DJ services

The Attic Studio Description

Tucked away down a small backstreet, the recording studio is pretty easy to find and you won't be disappointed when you get here.

We strive to create a relaxed and inspirational atmosphere, where one can concentrate on what's most important, recording music. Our efforts are always in service to the music.

Mixing is a key element to the recording process. It can make or break a great recording or performance.

We believe if creativity is the key to success – it needs skilled refinement and balance; this is where our experience and understanding of how to apply innovative techniques is crucial to find the right sound.

Obviously entering the studio is one of the most important parts of any band or artist’s career. It’s where your music is immortalised in recorded form – a perfect document of artistic vision.

Our attitude is to get it right the first time. To capture the vibe /performance while it’s hot! This means we focus on getting the sound at source as close to perfect as poss, before we hit record.

Naturally, we strive to create a relaxed and inspirational atmosphere, where you can concentrate on what’s most important.

Useful Pre-session Information

Organisation and planning is key in any studio, and to make the most from your sessions we recommend you follow a few tips on how best to prepare. Cast your eye over this information to ensure no time is lost. If you need to ask more about session preparation get in touch.

To get the best results from your instruments, it’s a good idea to re-skin drums and re-string electric guitars, bass and acoustic instruments, in plenty of time before the session, it’s worth it! Practice is essential before going into the studio. To get the best value from your sessions, bands /artists /producers should create a clear plan of action of what they want to do (with or without a producer) once in the studio.

If you’re working with a producer, it’s a good idea to meet up with him or her and discuss production ideas ahead of the session, also if you give the producer and our engineer a demo as a point of reference to start pre-production notes, this will aid the process. A commercial indication to the sound you’re seeking would help the engineer prepare each step of the recording. If the decision is made to use a click track then it would be useful to work out the tempo in BPM prior to the session. It’s essential that the drummer /percussionist is comfortable and well rehearsed using a click track prior to the session.

Finally, it’s important to adjust to the studio environment and feel relaxed and at ease – above all, enjoy it! There’s no reason to be nervous, our engineer or producer will help quash nerves and coax the best performance from you possible. Recording can be a tiring process both physically and mentally, so it’s a good idea to bring food and water.
