We had our wedding here on 19th May 2017 and our day was absolutely amazing!! From the very first day we visited you're wedding Fayre (my first one I may add) I knew there was no other place I wanted to get married, everyone from the reception staff, the wedding planners (especially Isabella and Rachel) the bar staff and the absolutely amazing manager on the day Grant were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, I felt like a queen on the day and throughout the planning!! I would absolutely recommend getting married here as you are made to feel like nobody else matters!! Thank you for making our day that extra bit more special ���

We had our wedding here last Friday and it was everything we had hoped for. The bear was the perfect venue for us and the staff was more than helpful with everything. Special thanks to the events team and especially Sam for all her help and her amazing attention to detail!



The only downside I have to say is that the day went too fast!

Visited the Bear on 22nd Sept, this was our second visit. The staff were both efficient and friendly. The food was delicious with plenty of choice of mains, although I felt on this occasion there was a limited choice for the starter. The only issue we have had here is not knowing how to judge the size of the portions. My meal (Poussin) was plentiful with a large amount of potatoe and sides, however my husbands meal (seabass) consisted of a small amount of potatoes and mushrooms.

Desserts were also delicious, overall a great night out in lovely surroundings.

The food is always beautifully cooked. Very high standard on every visit !

Thank you to everyone that works at the Bear for making our wedding day so perfect yesterday. We couldn't have asked for anything better. From the bar staff, to the events team, everyone made such an effort to create the best possible day. The food was incredible and the setting was exactly how we imagined. We would definitely recommend it in the future.

Such a fantastic venue to photograph at as a wedding photographer. The staff are very friendly and happy to keep me updated with the schedule of the day.

Stayed here last night as a stop over before a business meeting, lovely staff, the room was fantastic, had a great nights sleep, well rested ready for my meeting. Would definitely recommend it for a lovely hotel to stay at.

Stayed here for work purposes for 3 nights, a beautiful hotel with lots of character and lovely atmosphere, staff are great too. Had a lovely room with a four poster bed and slept so well. Food was good too. Highly recommend a stay

Only had a coffee this time but have eaten lunch and dinner there previously. Lovely surroundings and lovely staff. Car parking at the rear which is a bonus as the public car park can get quite busy. I would recommend booking if you wish to eat as it’s a popular place

My husband and I celebrated our Wedding reception at the Bear on Sunday 30th April 2017, and we honestly can't speak highly enough of all the staff, and of the service that we received.

Throughout the whole process the staff were amazing and a pleasure to deal with. I'm a bit of a worrier but they were endlessly patient, accommodating and reassuring and did all that they could to make sure that we had the best day possible.

As a result the day in itself was perfect, with so many compliments being received about the food, service and venue in general.

Thank you so, so much to Rachel, Isabella, Grant, Jackie, Thom and all staff for all that you did to make our day special, not only on the day but throughout the whole planning process.

We would definitely recommend the Bear for it's first class service and wonderful staff!

Just spent last night at the Bear to celebrate my husband's birthday and had a wonderful stay. All staff were excellent polite and attentive. When I booked I asked if i could have a nice room and it turned out to be a large room with four poster bed. It's such a refreshing change to have a faultless stay. Looking forward to another visit. Excellent throughout thoughly enjoyable stay!!!

I am extremely fortunate to have chosen The Bear for my Wedding Ceremony and Wedding Breakfast. Our day turned out to be absolutely perfect in every way. From the moment I arrived at the hotel, the day prior to my Wedding, to the moment I left, the day after my Wedding, each and every member of staff at The Bear could not have been more helpful and kind to both myself and my guests. I highly recommend this wonderful venue and their wonderful team of staff as they both contributed to me having the most truly wonderful and memorable Wedding Day. Special thanks to Nicola of the Events Team, who ensured that everything I had asked for was in place and that my day was perfect and memorable for myself, my husband and our guests – all of whom were totally impressed. Special thanks also to the Chef – Our Wedding Breakfast was absolutely beautiful, something else remembered by my whole party. Thank you so much. xx

Called here on the off chance late Sunday evening two weekends ago, as it is one of the few pubs that serve Sunday Lunch all day. Beautiful and cosy old pub feel in the dining area, and stuffed bears throughout making it rustic and country for a smart hotel. Disappointed the fires were not lit however the food was great. Served within ten minutes of ordering, the beef was top drawer! Succulent and melt in the mouth, not tough and dry like most places that serve dinner all day. Gravy was thick and tasty, roasties were soft and fluffy inside and beautifully seasoned skins on the outside. It also came with cauliflower cheese... my ultimate accompaniment to a roast dinner. Price for such a good dinner as well, SO reasonable. Would highly recommend, nearly gave five stars on trip advisor however visited again last weekend and ordered the pork. Unfortunately, everybody else who ordered beef loved it but the pork was dry and not a loin as expected but a thick chop. The stuffing which accompanied it was cheap tasting like Paxo, not home made and as we visited lunch time it was very busy and service much slower. Still HIGHLY advise this dinner should be on your top five to try around Cardiff! I just don’t like Paxo stuffing!! Good job Bear �

Waited 30 mins for food( a sandwich and a chicken burger) ordered before a wedding party swarmed the bar... after waiting 30 mins I asked a waiter to check on our food order. After another 5-10 mins it came out and my chicken burger was raw (all pink inside)



Reported this straight away and got a refund for my burger meal...

Very disappointed and hungry..
