The Beeches

A bit slow with main course service, a very long wait for bar staff. The food is better, don't expect anything less than pub food

We ate at "The Beeches" Whitbread Inn pub one night, when staying at the adjoining Premier Inn, and the we were amazed by the excellent service off the staff because although it was super busy, and our food took forever to come, we didn't complain as there was an obvious lack of staff, and we were enjoying the evening. Our servers had a laugh with us, and although we didn't complain we were treat to a free round of drinks and £30 off out total bill as a goodwill gesture for making us wait so long. The food was top quality and delicious as well. In the morning, we had a similarly long wait for breakfast, as there was one person running it one morning, and three the next, but they were running around all morning, non-stop, trying to stock up the buffet, and taking orders for everyone's cooked breakfast. The staff here couldn't of worked harder, and I was amazed by the amount of effort they were putting in - they deserve a pay rise! At one point the Premier Inn receptionist had to come across and help out the restaurant they were that ridiculously understaffed.

Very Disappointing Service

I rang to book the table on the morning before the evening of arrival. I advised that I wanted our party to arrive at 6:30PM but was flexible if there was an offer earlier in the evening. I was told that there are no offers on Saturday. Upon arriving a sign was clearly visible stating a reduced price lunch menu ran until 6PM. That was only the start of the issues.

The restaurant was clearly understaffed with the team working very hard to try to keep up. We had to wait 45 minutes before our first drinks arrived. We then had further long waits each time we requested service.

This is a shame because the restaurant is quite nicely decorated and the food was of a reasonably good standard. GIven the prices charged, we would have expected far better service and to have been told about the offer earlier in the evening when we booked. This is a fundamental floor in the management of the restaurant and we shall not be returning.

Lovely atmosphere, great service, and delicious steak. The only disappointment was my dessert, but they're swapping it for something else. On the whole, quite a nice evening.

Arrived on time for our booking and shown to our table promptly. Tables in the area where we were sat needed to be cleaned, they were left dirty until the table was needed. Orders were placed for our main meals and had to wait an hour before the food was served. All other customers around us waited an hour. The wait staff said this was due to an unexpected party of 9 people arriving without booking. The staff shouldn't use excuses for poor service. Had to has multiple times for butter for the baked jacket potatoes. The wait staff need some training on clearing tables as guests leave and remembering what the customer asked for.

Food lovely, friendly service and good prices

We had a great meal, although it took over an hour to come to the table. One of us complained that the disabled toilet had a screw loose holding it down and one of the chefs went in there to fix it in the clothes they later cooked in.

Amazing restaurant. Food really nice. Catered well for kids too. Exceptional service from the beeches and the premier Inn (pam is a complete asset.)

Always smiling and willing to go the extra mile.
Breakfast is hot and made to order. Good value too.
Mains - good choice and always served hot and promptly.
