We stayed here last night as we saw Maiden at the Motor point Arena which is just across the road so fantastic. Lovely friendly staff & room was spacious, clean & tidy. Condiments left with kettle ironing board & hair drier if needed. The bed was really comfy.....I didn't want to get out of it . A great price too & you can venture out & around Cardiffs city just below. Would recommend

We stayed for the Paul Weller gig..as the hotel was just across the road from the arena it was really convenient for us.. nice big room..we booked standard twin as was the only rooms left but the beds were made up to a double..really comfortable..very clean room..the girl that checked us in was really helpful with questions we had..nice view over the city.. only down fall was the parking.. really wished I had done my homework..had to park in the car park down the road and wasn't told it was cheaper to park inside overnight than outside..so paid £16 for the pleasure.. but will know next rime overhaul very happy with our stay and will Defo book there again..

Staff on reception very helpful and friendly. Parking is first come but indoor ncp car park next door for £9 for 24hours. Right opposite Motorpoint Arena. Rooms nice and warm. Recommend breakfast as it is lovely. This was my second visit and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Myself and my 9 year old daughter stayed here to see Olly Murs at the Motorpoint Arena. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly guy on reception when we arrived, we arrived two hours early and he was very helpful. The breakfast was good, the room was modern and clean. Even the builders that were there doing work had a chat while being in the lift. Would definitely return and recommend to anyone. Being opposite the Motorpoint Arena and a 5 min walk to the shopping Centre this hotel is perfect! Thank you for making our trip to Cardiff one to remember

It was my 1st visit and my husband 2nd visit as we arrived at reception we was greeted with friendly staff asked about parking which was available. we was given a deluxe double room on 8th floor after entering room I thought it was fantastic even the view fully stocked with tea coffee sugar water complimentary shampoo Etc hairdryer iron and board free WiFi. I had 2 suggestion not a moan 1 was thought needed a shower curtain as water sprayed off us on too floor may become slippery and toilet was very loose. Morning of breakfast was told we didn't have it included lack of communication between booking company and the big sleep i think as a few was having issues but was soon sorted would defo stay again.

We have stayed here a couple of times before so were pleasantly surprised with the part refurbishment & change in breakfast.

Nice big bed, clean white fresh towels & were supplied with soap, shampoo & showergel. Hairdryer , coffee/tea making facilities & the location is great for the centre of Cardiff

We will most definitely stay again .

The only thing I would recommend is to advise all visitors of the parking situation.

It was match day, very busy & lots of traffic so highly recommend NCP carpark for 24hr parking (indoors) £8.00.... we ended up on outdoor NCP for £16.00 for 24hrs

If we had known in advance we would have arrived much earlier.

Thank you Big Sleep we will be back & would be happy with double room 604

The hotel is situated opposite the motor point arena. Our room was clean and decor was in good repair. The bathroom is equipped with a shower that we found easy to control with plenty of hot water. I had read reviews on this hotel that noise was a problem however we didn't hear the busy road outside or other guests. The bed was very comfy, and there is extra pillows available in the wardrobe. Coffee/tea, ironing board and iron plus a hairdryer also. Breakfast was cooked/pastries/toast and yoghurts, and was OK. Although I would suggest booking breakfast, it doesn't come with the room price. Overall a good stay and would reccomend.

Stayed here before it changed it name ! Decided to give it another go as it’s just been refurb! Nice clean and tidy bathrooms are fab staff are excellent but attention to details lets it down hence only 4*

Perfect location, we are in one of the newly renovated rooms on the 9th floor and it's lovely, spacious, bright and clean. Bed is comfy and slept well. Shower is good with plenty of hot water. Staff on front desk are great, happy chatty, make you feel very welcome. All in all great value for money and across the road from all amenities. Will be back.

Excellent location , rooms spotless although they could to with a bit of T.L.C , carparking is limited but would advise an early check-in to try and avoid being disappointed but there are other carparks near .The only reason why I haven't rated it 5* is the lifts were out of order when returning to the hotel after attending the Motorpoint Arena for Mrs Brown's Boys , no fault of the hotel I know and we were lucky we were only on the 4th floor .Breakfast was great with a choice of Full English or Continental .Would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable nights sleep, lovely bed fantastic walk-in shower. Breakfast was okay, nothing fantastic. Very friendly staff. As a light sleeper. I could still hear the traffic from Bute Terrace, thank god I wasn't facing the railway lines.

Be warned!! It's no longer called The Big Sleep! It's been renamed The Citrus. No one bothered to let us know. We drove around several times trying to find it! Apart from the inconvenience of that we found the hotel and staff very good. Rooms were lovely, clean and spacious. Parking is a problem as there only limited spaces. We parked in the NCP just up the road which cost £14 for 24 hours. Great central location with shopping precinct a few minutes away.

User

Stayed one night parking limited so need to get there early 8.00 charge, room big, bed comfy breakfast ok warm bacon and hash browns could do with cooking a bit more great location

User

Found the place very easy. Staff were ok on arrival not overly friendly tho. Room was lovely and clean and bathroom too. Hotel in a good location to shops etc.

Main issue was the noise coming from outside the room, with people coming back from a night out at 4 am to wake us, with their shouting and banging of doors etc shouldn't the rooms be sound proof?

User

Well I didn’t realise it was 2 star, I have decorated lots of budget hotels the best by far was holiday inn express, this place deserves the 2 star tag, it was clean, staff were polite, it somehow needs a facelift some of the work inthe bathroom was not finished to a high standard and the walls in the sleeping area need to be filled and repainted, handy for the town.

User

No parking. Thank God we did stay only for a night but the fire alarm went off at 05:50 We went downstairs only to be sent back up as we been told there is no fire in the building but they are waiting for an ingeneer to put off the alarm? Seriously? Does no one have a training about fire safety especially now with all the past events? The alarm went off at 08:10 . So more than 2 hours. When we did check out not even a "sorry for the inconveniences ". Very dissapointed. The big sleep turn to be a short disturbed sleep. I do understand it's a 2 * but still should be kept simple, basic, the room was not dirty but furniture broken and walls ripped. No blinds at the toilet. Thank God I didn't book the breakfast there. The only good thing is that is central. Nothing else !

User

Decent enough,

Currently undergoing refurbishment which is understandable but faulty shower which could not be repaired, the room was very very cold and no staffed bar however it was clean, breakfast was great and the staff were very welcoming.

Very close to the city centre.

Great location.

Booked 7 months in advance to have a room where light over bed was broken, heater broken and hole in the bathroom door. Empty crisp and sweet packets still on the table. Breakfast was slow as short staff so not their fault, but when I went to get some orange juice, the lad cleared my breakfast away as i got back to the table. There were other dirty breakfast plates left on our table already but mine was a piping hot one! He had piled the other bits of food and dirty plates on mine! He said sorry he would fix it, so as there was a big queue I waited and few mins later he brought out a brekkie for me - EXCEPT all he had done was remove the other plates off mine and removed the bits of scraped off food and brought it back out to me! Absolutely vile. I had to queue to get another, but what he done was unacceptable. People at the next table couldnt believe it! I did report to reception but heard nothing back yet. We have stayed here a fair few times and this was the worst. Bring back the continental brekkie so much easier.
