The British Student Doctor Journal Description

The British Student Doctor is a high quality, open access, biannual, peer-reviewed, general medical journal, which publishes articles written by UK medical students. In addition to publishing original research and systematic reviews, we also provide a platform to medical students to express original thought and reflections on clinical practice, student life and medical education.

All of our content is fully open access, available without subscription and with no authorship charges. All articles published in The British Student Doctor go through a rigorous peer-review process, led by our student editorial team. The governance of the journal is overseen by our faculty advisory board, and the journal is funded by Cardiff University School of Medicine.

Itโ€™s always more fun when you do things together, so our second top tip is to find someone to write with. โœ๏ธ ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ
Medical school can be hard work and you will be writing in your own time - the time when you also have many other things to do. Having a writing partner keeps you accountable and motivated. It also helps the creative process as you both can share ideas. ๐Ÿง
And, if that isnโ€™t enough to convince you. Here is a list of 5 big company names that were founded by two... or more people: 1. Microsoft ๐Ÿ’ก 2. Google ๐ŸŒ 3. YouTube ๐Ÿ“น 4. FaceBook ๐Ÿ“š 5. Apple ๐Ÿ–ฅ

We have an exciting new opportunity, just for you! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
... โญ๏ธโญ๏ธWe are opening up The BSDJ Blog as an open platform for authors to share their thoughts, opinions and perspectives on current issues and topics. โญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
This will be a more informal style in comparison to submitting a journal article, so itโ€™s a great way to start writing and sharing your ideas. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ป
We welcome submissions from students and professionals from any disciplines, from any country. Our only requirement is that your work should be relevant and current to UK medical students.

A total of 40 cases of mumps have been confirmed by Public Health England at the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University. ๐Ÿšจ
The head of NHS England, Simon Stevens, also recently announced that there has been a decline in the uptake of MMR over the past 5 years, due to fake news. Social media is also helping to spread misleading information about the harms of vaccines. ๐Ÿ’‰
Italy responded by making vaccination compulsory for all school children, but this has onl...y caused further backlash from Anti Vaxx supporters. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น
What are your thoughts? Should vaccines remain optional? Maybe we need more education?

Previously, the medical profession stood in opposition of assisted suicide. ... Does this mark a step in the direction of a change in the law? How will this impact the role of a Doctor?

Why should you peer review? 1. Helps you - To learn medicine, you have to see patients. To learn evidence-based medicine, you have to practise reviewing the literature, as well as seeing patients! Taking the opportunity to practise is invaluable. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ป 2. Helps others - The peer review process allows others to gather feedback about their work, to develop and improve their scientific writing abilities. ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“ 3. Helps science - The process of peer review aims to minimise the inf...luence of bias, so we only publish the highest quality science. ๐Ÿฆ ๐Ÿงช๐Ÿ”ฌ
