Lovely hotel in great location with very friendly staff. Grandson loves the breakfasts. Haven't sampled evening meals but menus look good. The hotel was built for Princess Victoria in about 1830 by Lord Bulkley but she didn't visit until she was queen a few years later. Has a 'posh' restaurant, a bistro and a coffee shop. The guy reading the paper is actually a painting on the wall of the bistro! Have stayed here several times for a couple of nights each time.

I went to the hotel for food so cannot comment on the rooms. I ordered a sandwich (I had gone for afternoon tea only to find that you have to pre-book. That's fine, but it wasn't mentioned outside where afternoon teas are advertised). The food was non-descript and overpriced. Surroundings were dated and actually not particularly clean (our table was not cleaned between sittings, for example). This place has neither style nor substance I'm afraid, and I wouldn't recommend it.

A quirky place that is clearly doing it's best to offer every possible service. Bar, coffee shop, restaurant, exhibition space, shop etc. It manages to do this pretty well and served us our coffee quickly and politely.

Really lovely, busy building and location is excellent with the pier directly behind and the castle a 2 minute walk away. The outside seating area by the sea is a lovely place to spend the evening and there are some excellent restaurants right next door. The room was OK. We parked easily. The only little let down was the tea and coffee served with breakfast.

The staff are friendly and polite, room was spacious and comfortable for the price. Cooked breakfast in bed was served at the time we asked for.

Bathroom shower was not great, could do with being replaced by something with some pressure, a new showerheadwould be sufficient.

The decor looks dated but sort of fits with the look of the hotel, nothing a splash of paint wouldn't solve and hotel was clean and tidy.

All in all, lovely stay. Would stay again.

The room me and my SO had was amazing all we was missing was a heater in the room, but I think we could ask for one and got one anyways, as we've had a great experience at the restaurant in the hotel for breakfast and dinner and the last day we needed to leave the hotel before breakfast time and they were so nice sorting an early breakfast for us which was amazing and the view we had from out room to the sea and mountains was amazing!
