Myself and partner stayed last night as a treat kick start to our honeymoon we are both Vegan and the Olive tree were very very accommodating and atentative of our dietary requirements.

We were very happy with the waiter who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and that it was satisfactory.

Just want to say thank you for very much for a wonderful stay and safe to say we will be back for more great food and a very comfy nights sleep.

User

My husband and I stayed here the other night for our anniversary. We loved every minute, our room, the view, and the food. There was so much to do we didn't have time for it all. We'll definitely stay again & probably make it 2 nights so we can use more of the facilities & activities they have.

User

Had a fantastic day here yesterday with my friend for her 50th birthday.I phoned the hotel directly as I was a little unsure as what I wanted as a gift. The lady was amazing and helped me plan everything.I chose the Spa, then Afternoon tea followed by a Facial and Massage and it was all perfect. We stayed for 6 hours and the whole experience was exceptional throughout,I will definitely be coming again 10/10 x

Fabulous day at the Celebrity Cup . Staff were amazing and we were very well looked after in the Premier Lounge ...... food and service exquisite.

Usual Celtic Manor excellence that keeps us returning to the Resort for golf , hotel stays , and events .

Without doubt our very favourite place to visit .... thank you Celtic Manor for another wonderful day .

User

Currently here at Celtic Manor, 4 of us on a golf break. The service we have recieved so far has been nothing short of excellent. The rooms are very nice and clean, we did request twin rooms and 1 of them wasnt but nothing worth complaining about. Came off the Twenty Ten yesterday we was the last off the course and running late for our reservation at The Olive Tree, called them to let them know we would be late and no problem at all. Clubs were taken away ready to be at the Montgomerie this morning. Attention to detail from the staff and helpfulness is great. Would 100% come here again

User

Amazing weekend, amazing hotel and the best service I have ever received. A must stay for anyone looking for a real 5 star experience. The only glitch to the stay was finding only one robe in the wardrobe for use at the spar so my husband had to go down in his clothes and change. Would also prefer to tip the staff myself rather than having a service charge applied to all bar and restaurant transactions.

User

We were very well looked after, had a great time. The food and service in the Steak On Six restaurant was outstanding. The only reason I didn’t give 5*is because of the slow table service at the bar and the fact that they automatically add on 10% service charge I found it rude.

User

My first time here, it was a gift from my daughter & her husband. ( they visit there quite a lot ) Hotel staff were very warm and welcoming, our meal was at rafters my partner enjoyed his main meal but unfortunately my meal was awful. This will not stop us from returning. Only one let down, the money we spent on food and drinks and like everyone we had to pay £15 to park over night. For paying guest I think this needs to be rethought. As there are supplements on most meals

User

We had a lovely meal in the Rafters restaurant, the only disappointing thing was that we were charged £8 for two baskets of bread which enabled us to have a slice each, tad over the top together with the £4 supplement for the cheese which when 4 people had it was a farce! Please just include these in the set price, sadly these additions made a lovely meal have a bitter taste! Saying all this they catered well for a party of 10 including my mobility impaired dad who felt comfortable and not rushed.

User

So we stayed as a wedding gift to us from some of our family members, I will start with the positives as there are plenty of them, we checked in, the staff on reception were helpful and told us where everything was. Our room was great, a nice size, very modern, the bathroom was beautiful, even the painting ( I am a painter so look at the painting everywhere) was fairly good. The spa downstairs was lovely and we spent a good few hours in there, we ate at the olive tree in the evening, the beef was absolutely gorgeous, and the breakfast the morning after was okay also. The grounds are gorgeous.

The bad things, we did not have a balcony in the room, which we were very disappointed by as we came to relax away from the kids so sitting on the balcony in the evening was on our to do list. We went to get a drink at the bar quickly, but it turned out we had to take a seat and have table service, so we couldn’t just buy a quick drink at the bar, which turned a quick drink into a not so quick drink, which in turn then also forced a service charge upon us.

The worst thing of all was that you force a service charge on customers. A service charge in my opinion is a discretion in which the customer decides to give, if they feel the service and standard was up to scratch, not being made to feel that you have to give 10% extra on top of already extortionate prices.

Last thing, the car park, surely if you have paid to stay there then car parking should be free. You make enough money.

Overall i would go back, but request a room with a balcony, the food tho, spot on!

User

Played the 2010 course today for the first time.

Walked off a bit disappointed with the whole experience.

Having expected it to be something special and it wasn’t really!

I would play it again, but only in the summertime, I imagine it must be a very heavy slog in the winter!

Despite the three weeks or so of no rain, and only having rain on Saturday and Sunday, the course was spongy and numerous bunkers were puddled.

Buggies were restricted to paths only so you had to walk from one side of the fairway to the other with a handful of clubs.

No doubt walked further using a buggy than if we walked!

If I played again I would definitely walk and trolley as opposed to buggy.

The group in front of us walked and they had the correct idea.

The management need to decide if it’s a buggy course or a walking course as mixing the two does not work.

We waited on every tee and every green.

The clubhouse is expensive with breakfast at £15 and soup and half a sandwich at £10!

Prov1 were £52 a dozen.

At the prices you pay for green fees, there is no need for this extra levy, ridiculous!

I’d play it again, if the price was right, needs to be about £50 -£60 and it would be a fair price.

User

Way over rated £5.10 for a pint that's why I didn't get pissed went to a wedding reception missing glass out off where we were ok the weather wasn't as nice as it has been but what the cost of the reception was you would think it was repaired and also they ran out of arrival drinks and they ran out of tissue in the toilets very poor Celtic Manor hope I don't go back

User

Unfortunately this was not the best stay. It was supposed to be our babymoon trip.

When we arrived, the lady said that she was the manager but we weren’t actually booked in? It was only until my husband showed our reservation they saw we were there and said we hadn’t booked in restaurant either? We didn’t get any drinks at the Olive Tree . We asked 3 times and the drinks never arrived...and then we went to the bar and our drinks arrive until my husband had to chase them until he saw them walking away with them. The breakfast man this morning was amazing though . It’s a shame that the woman at reception was not apologetic for getting our booking confused & that the drinks never arrived as we were v excited for this trip- but feel the service let the hotel down. Hate giving negative reviews.

User

Our room was extremely dirty, it needs a serious deep clean. We had to ask reception to arrange for it to be cleaned / Vacuumed again. This did happen, but it was still in a very poor state.

The lock did not work on the main door. This meant we had to wait for over a hour until they could secure the room and we could leave.

Little things then weren’t right, no robes, 1 spoon for tea and coffee! Half empty drink container which was dirty!

On the plus side, the food was amazing. Just a shame they can’t clean and sort the rooms

properly.

User

Embarrassed to have booked this as a gift after many times visiting in years gone by and also having recommended it to so many friends and family (including a couple for their mini moon).

The resort has totally lost its sparkle, the only thing making it not a total catastrophe are a handful of great staff members.

Don’t waste your money or time on visiting... unless you like bland food, inconsistent service and throwing your money away...

User

Booked for afternoon tea in the olive tree ... which got switched to Cen.

My husband had booked this as a surprise for my 30th birthday after being recommended by friends! He knows I’m a fussy eater so rang before hand to see if things could be changed on the menu and also to say we were bringing our just 2 year old with us and a smaller suitable afternoon tea would be ok this was all agreed and he was over the moon noing I would love it!

On arrival we cudnt find the cen restaurant and when we got there they weren’t ready for us after waiting in the hallway for 20 minutes we qued to be led to our table.. on being seated we were asked if there was any dietary requirement me and my husband was very confused at this point ... oh and also no high chair for my daughter!

So we then waited again for a high chair to be bought to us.. we had to then explain the whole conversation my husband had had with the lady over the phone (who had spoke to the chefs ect and had made note of it all). By this point it’s all a bit embarrassing... in the end the sandwiches were changed and were lovely but we ate none of the savoury and half the cake.. also my daughter was not catered for like agreed apart from a cheese sandwich. I did email you on Monday evening once we had got home... and the email returned said I would hear from management within 72 hours and guess what I’m

Still waiting!

I feel very disappointed, it ruined my birthday! I was really looking forward to this day with my family and I feel I paid a lot of money to just eat a ham sandwich and scones!

Booked for a one night stay. Was expecting a special trip judging by the descriptions on the website but actually found the room to be quite mediocre and somewhat tired. We have bought a few presents of meals out at the Celtic Manor for our children over the years and enjoy the treat, however those treats will NOT be bought from the Celtic Manor anymore as they have been completely and utterly disgraceful towards us when my son and daughter turned up 2 days too late for their meal due to a mix-up in the dates and were turned away. We have written and phoned them to complain and have not had the decency to reply except for "we will get back to you"" so my money has been wasted which to me is theft, I am a pensioner and save up for family treats for them and for a huge company like this to treat us this way is beyond belief and shabby.

This is not the first time I have stayed as Celtic manor but I can guarantee it will be the last.
