The Elan Valley Description
Original Elan Valley Facebook page. This page is not linked with any organisation or company, it is a page for all to share and enjoy. The Elan Valley Estate is an area of spectacular beauty and abundant wildlife right in the heart of mid Wales near the market town of Rhayader.
This page is a discovery about all the beauties of the Elan Valley and is managed by the local community living in and working within this exceptional landscape. It is independent and not part of the Visitor Centre team.
It is a wonderful place to visit in any season and we hope that this page will provide you with a wide range of information about the Elan Valley and how it is looked after as well as insights to life living in the Elan Valley.
The Elan Valley Estate attracts a wide variety of visitors and a good starting point for all is the Visitor Centre which has a wide variety of information and educational and interactive resources.
In total the Elan Estate attracts more than 400, 000 visitors annually. Many people come to enjoy the peace and quiet, some come for the wildlife and scenery, whilst others take part in more active pursuits.
For those wishing to stay in the area the nearby town of Rhayader has a wide choice of accommodation and facilities. The Elan Estate can also offer self catering accommodation in cottages and farmhouses on the Estate.
How to Find The Elan Valley
We are situated in the county of Powys in mid Wales and can be accessed easily from the town of Rhayader which is on the intersection of the main A470 (North /South) and the A44 which comes from the East.
From Rhayader follow the B4518 southwest out of the town. (The left turn for the Visitor Centre is signposted after three miles).
If you go on up past the Visitor Centre there is 72 square miles of beautiful upland to enjoy. We look forward to sharing this beauty with you through our facebook page!
