The Exchange Hotel

Beautiful hotel, really been done up well and love the historical info around the building. Really adds to the atmosphere. The rooms are lovely, but there is a slight preference of form over function with there being nowhere to plug the kettle in for it to sit on a service. In a hotel like this I would have expected the little details to be there. No tea or hit chocolate was replaced after the first night for example. Not a deal breaker but just something that makes a difference. The breakfast was delicious, but there was an event on the second day which meant the cooked breakfast wasn't on. Not an issue if I had been notified. Again, it's the little things like this that make a difference. Considering the cost of the breakfast, the cooked breakfast is worth it, the continental not so much. They did refund this but on check out didn't ask how the stay was. Perhaps concerned about feedback on that aspect. On the whole a lovely hotel but some of the service aspects let it down for me. It is also off the main road and not a very easy place to find or a nice walk to get to at night. I'm not sure if I will stay again, the cost vs the service doesn't balance.

The rooms are great and the staff was very helpful. This building is really cool, and the location makes it easy to get just about anywhere.

This place is incredible!! Luxury for only a portion of how much it should charge. It blew me away with its gorgeous decor and atmosphere, the rooms were immaculate and had every comfort. The staff are friendly and wonderful. The bar and restaurant are quaint and warm. I wish I lived there! It's like slipping back in time. Doesn't even feel like the heart of Cardiff.

Had a great stay here. Room was lovely, the jacuzzi bath was a welcome and unexpexted addition.
Down side was the breakfast. Buffet style but they had run out of pretty much everything. One guy running back and fore trying to restock things but couldn't keep up with it. What we had was tasty but we ate in stages depending on what was cooked at the time

We had drinks in the bar and they were all great - cocktails and an Irish coffee. The barman was really friendly and helpful and very cute to my 3 year old daughter who was being a bit shy! It was table service which was great.

Service and the environment in the bar were both excellent. It's great to see this long neglected building, an amazing space, slowly coming back to life.

We stayed here for my best friends hen party and we had a ball. The staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us...we also had a cocktail masterclass with Chris, he was the star of the hotel, made the night for us...we chatted and had fun and made the evening. The hotel is beautiful and when the rest of the hotel is done it will be the star in Cardiff bay.
