The Golden Fleece Inn

What a great little country pub, lovely atmosphere, polite and friendly staff, first class food and really beautiful accommodation.

I'd say this place was lacking in atmosphere ...(at rear)
Staff were pleasant enough...but could do with some experience in serving meals & collecting plates, I could go on but feel that maybe if management saw this, something could be done...

Food was good and plenty of it...nothing frozen!
Good value for a Sunday roast ...
But x2 course...3rd course was free...

We attended for Sunday lunch and a few drinks. The lunch was very tasty, the veg was a bit sparse, but it looked like you got the same size sharing portion ordering for two as for three. The meat was well cooked and melted in your mouth. The drinks were good, there is a small selection of real ales but enough for me to find a good component to the dinner. The bar is small, cozy and very nicely decorated. The staff are friendly and there is ample parking outside (although we walked, and there are some great walls in the surrounding area) I'd eat or drink here again anytime.

This is a good hotel but it let itself down when I stayed. I arrived early not expecting to be able to check in, we were on route to Portmeirion, however I was greeted by the friendly staff who were happy to give me the keys to the two rooms I'd booked so we could go straight to them on our return later. This is exactly what we did on our return so up to now we were looking at a 5 star review. On entering my room the smell of dirty feet was overwhelming. All windows and doors were opened and after a spray of deodorant we kinda got used to it. I checked with my daughter in the other room and it was the same. We intended to eat in the hotel that night so met in the bar for a beer or two. Unfortunately the thought of the smelly rooms put us off and we went across the road to another pub. This was a disaster, it was the worst food I've ever been presented with and on complaining the landlady looked at me like I was an idiot. Although this wasn't the fault of the Golden Fleece Inn I just needed to point out what the knock effect was from our bad experience with the rooms. On checking out I mentioned the smell to the receptionist who was very nice and seemed shocked but tried to blame it on furniture cleaning products. Whichever it was you really shouldn't be letting rooms out like that. It's a real shame as when we returned to the GF from the place across the road people were leaving looking like they'd enjoyed their food and drink. Would seem we both missed out because of the smelly rooms.

Fantastic place to eat with fantastic staff! Every time we come to Wales they accept our two dogs with out hesitation! This time we brought the whole family (6humans and 6dogs) and again they were fantastic at accepting us all! Defiantly a must if you are in Snowdonia! Thank you to all staff and can't wait to come again next year!

Called in for lunch when the hailstones spoiled our plans to eat outdoors. Surprisingly cosy, friendly and excellent customer service. Food was good and well priced, also massive bonus to us is that the pub is dog friendly

Nice and cozy, the restaurant has some good choices and there is also a starbucks located inside.

This is an absolute hidden gem! I'm so glad I found it have stayed 3 times now, working in hotels myself I can appreciate all the little extras plenty of milk pots on your tray in room not the average 4 normally given, the rooms are spotless the bed linen is of very good quality and the way they have been decorated it is obvious the owners have spent time, money and passion in them I gladly recommend all our guests in Birmingham that if visiting north Wales the golden fleece is a must, breakfast Is FANTASTIC too! The cave bar is also a place to enjoy and a good selection

My daughter had her Birthday dinner at the Golden Fleece. What a great choice she made. We had a lovely warm welcome from the happy friendly staff. They had set up the table so we could all sit together. The Sunday Roast was so tasty and plenty of it. Pudding absolutely yummy. G&T with lime, lemon and cucumber so refreshing had to have a few. Thank you so much for making my daughter's birthday so special.
