The golf performance studio located inside St Deiniol Golf Club facilitates all year round golf instruction.

Golf instruction is delivered by fully qualified PGA Golf Professional Matthew Wharton. Matthew Wharton is fast becoming recognized as one of the most capable and successful Golf Instructors and Elite Golf Performance Coaches in the Wales and the North of England.

The studio has all the tools you need to understand the the game, from a Launch Monitor, High Speed Video, Tomi putter fitting technology to basic and advanced training aids. All the lessons are emailed back to you the same day so you can review them in your own time and keep a log of your improvement yourself.
The teaching aids that Matthew incorporates during the lessons have been chosen because they can accelerate the learning process.

Once the student has mastered the fundamentals, the tuition is switched to the golf course. This is done for several reasons; the student gets comfortable and familiar with the golfing environment, the student feels how to play shots hitting from grass and the obvious reason is the golf course is outdoors.
If you’re serious about making real improvements in your game, you should be serious about who you choose to guide you on route to achieving your goals.

Utilising elements from performance Psychology and elite sport.
We Performance profile newcomers to the studio which creates a list of goals.

We help individuals create a foundation upon which each client can build a record of measurable improvements within their game. We enable people to focus on the most important elements that directly influence their performance.
Creating a goal driven action plan enables the individual to grow their potential.
Potential comes from experience, learning and fun.

A key problem for coaches seeking to address issues with golf performance is how to work out what the problem is when they cannot observe what is going on in their golfer`s mind.
A direct question does not always provide the full facts since golfers can be reluctant, at least initially, to discuss such things.
An approach that is becoming popular in elite sport is Performance Profiling.
Over the past few years, Performance Profiling has become a new tool in the athlete & coach's armoury.
Performance Profiling has three major purposes:
• To aid in identifying an appropriate intervention
• To maximise the athlete's motivation and adherence to the program
• To monitor any changes over time
Process

Performance Profiling comprises of four steps:

• Step 1 - Coach outlines the Performance Profiling process

• Step 2 – The golfer identifies the characteristics of an elite athlete for his /her sport /event

• Step 3 – The golfer rates each in terms of level of importance and self assessment

Step 4 - Golfer and Coach analyse the results and agree a way forward.

Through the performance profiling process, Matthew helps people focus on the most the important areas within their life that can directly influence their golf game.
By highlighting areas for improvement which could be a technical issue with their golf swing, fitness or mobility issue.

Profiling provides clarity and is proven to increase motivation and focuses on the real issues with an individual`s golf game.

We then set appropriate goals which highlights short term and long term performance goals for the golfer.

Goal setting is used by top-level athletes, successful business-people and achievers in all fields.

It focuses your acquisition of knowledge, and helps you to organise your time and your resources so that you can make the very most of your golf game.
By setting sharp, clearly defined goals, you can measure and take pride in the achievement of those goals, and you'll see forward progress in what might previously have seemed a long pointless grind.
You will also raise your self-confidence, as you recognise your own ability and competence in achieving the goals that you've set.
Starting to Set Personal Goals
You set your goals on a number of levels:
• First you create your "big picture" of what you want to do with your golf (or over, say, the next 10 months), and identify the large-scale goals that you want to achieve.
• Then, you break these down into the smaller and smaller targets that you must hit to reach your final goal.
Finally, once you have your plan, you start working on it to achieve these goals.
This is why we start the process of goal setting by looking at your long term golfing goal. Then, we work down to the things that you can do in, say, the next five weeks, and start moving towards them.
