The Happy Gardeners, Aberdare

The development stages of the ladybird. We’ve seen masses of ladybird larva recently which is good news for gardeners and bad news for aphids.

This magnificent specimen is a Onopordum acanthium - often called a Scotch Thistle. Spotted in a garden in Aberdare as we drove past. It made our day. It’s huge!

One if the perks of being a Happy Gardener is visiting garden centres to buy plants on a clients behalf, then filling their hanging baskets and pots. This was a particularly enjoyable task as we were given free reign with our choice of plants.

We’ve been too busy to take gardening photos this month but we did manage to take these pics of plants for sale at Brecon Farmers Market. Their next market is on Sat July 13th 9.30-2.00 if anyone fancies going to it.

This is a great idea and an easy way of adding height to a border.

We are doing our best to maintain our appointments but some work cannot be done when it’s pouring down. Also, this work was a lifestyle choice for us so we always put our health first 😊. Having said that we’ve only ever postponed a handful of appointments and those clients were understanding. Let’s hope we have a blazing summer, eventually 🌞🌞🌞 photo credit Royston

Inspiration can often be gleaned from visits to hotels and public parks. This lovely gravel path is at Gliffaes Hotel near Crickhowell. The mixed flower borders are stunning too.
