The Haven Counselling Centre

The Haven Counselling Centre is based in the centre of Neath.
Wendy has been a Counsellor for 10 years and has experience in working with many problems.

We all at sometime in our lives can experience a period of low mood.

This may be because of major changes such as a bereavement, break up of a relationship, financial problems etc.

At these times we may share these problems with family or close friends which helps. However, there are also times when we dont want to discuss these thoughts or feelings with family or friends as we dont want to burden them or cause them to worry at times like this it may help to talk things through with a Counsellor.

Counselling is a safe space which is non judgemental and confidential. Your first session is what we call a Clinical Assessment. This will give me the opportunity to look at your life experiences and asses whether that has had an impact on the way in which you are dealing with your problem. It also gives you the opportunity to see if you feel comfortable working with with meor whether you feel Counselling is for you. At the end of the session you then decide whether you would like further sessions. Your are not committed in any way. Sessions are paid at the end of each session, the frequency of the sessions will be discussed and agreed between us at the end of the session.
One of the main psychological theories I work with is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy(CBT). Cognitive (the way we think) Behaviour(the way we behave)Therapy is found to be one of the more successful therapies when working with problems such as Depression, Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Behaviour(OCD).
