The Jk Way Description

Hi Folks!

For those that don't know me my name is James Kent and in many ways I am not your average Personal Trainer. I'm not big on conventional sports, my football knowledge doesn't span much beyond 1994 - ask me who Newcastle's star striker is I would probably tell you "John Barnes! " - and my rugby knowledge is well. . . nonexistent! A "scrum" is a half-time snack right?. . .

What I do know, is how to train for peak physical and mental readiness for the ultimate game there is; Life.

My journey into the world of health and fitness started when I was 20 years old. Having led a largely sedentary and unhealthy existence up until then - and at one point verging on obesity - I realised it was time to make a significant change in my lifestyle.

I managed to drop a few stone over the course of a few months and attained a healthy weight. Up until this point, my training was somewhat disorganised. After being introduced to a local bodybuilding gym by a friend, my training began to take a more regimented, and very hypertrophy orientated (GET BIG! ! ) turn. Here, with the guidance of the owners (both previous NABBA contenders and qualified PT's) I learned much about achieving the purely aesthetic qualities of physical enhancement. I also gained firsthand knowledge of power lifting techniques and most importantly, effective programme design. From here, my interest in all areas of health and fitness grew.

I began researching every ingredient in every meal, reading everything from books by renowned strength and conditioning coaches, random 70's sport psychology to bodybuilding books from the 1920's! My personal research even extended to the sometimes eccentric, yet surprisingly effective, meditative techniques of the Chinese Taoist philosophy.

This almost incessant hunger for more knowledge increased to the point that I became the "go to guy" for diet and training advice in my peer group. At this time, I had successfully completed my BA (Hons) in Digital Music and was starting to gain moderate success in the area. Despite this, I came to the realisation I did not want to dedicate myself to a career principally based around long durations of physical inactivity, locked away from the outside world in a stuffy studio. I wanted to be active, feel fit and healthy, meet new like minded people and most of all, share my passion by helping others change their lives for the better. The rest is history.

My current qualifications include:

* Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing
* Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training
* NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) International Certified Personal Trainer Certificate

Having graduated through Premier Training International, the foremost Personal Training organisation in in the UK and acquiring my International Certification through NASM (America's chief awarding body for fitness professionals) I am able to offer a comprehensive service harnessing the best of both training systems.

Using these tools, coupled with my own experience over the years I am able to help YOU look, feel and be the best you can be!
