Today is quite a sad day at LWC Wales & Bristol as it is Jeanette Mackenzie’s last day here as Laboratory Manager.
Jeanette joined the LWC in 2008 and worked at our clinics in Swansea, Cardiff and Bristol. She gained her degree in anatomy and structural biology from Otago University, New Zealand, and completed a masters in clinical embryology at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.
... She previously worked as a senior embryologist at Fertility Associates in New Zealand before joining the LWC .
She has been instrumental in the success of the clinics and not only is she an excellent scientist, she excels at quality assurance and has the unique gift of being always friendly and approachable.
The growth of the clinics in Wales and the West and the popularity of the centres owes a lot to Jeanette who has introduced to this region new techniques and innovations in to our lab., through her dedication and love for her work.
Jeanette returns to New Zealand to continue her excellent scientific career as Scientific Director at the prestigious Fertility Plus in Auckland.
Despite the growth of the IVF sector in the world, we still remain professionally a close community and Jeanette will remain a close ally in the global scheme of things…. so it is not goodbye, as we will be sure to keep ties with Jeanette as she continues to follow her dreams from the other side of the world.
Everyone at LWC Wales and Bristol and across the whole health group wish you “ all the best” with our warmest thanks for all you have done.

We are proud to offer year after year such high success rates – the best in the region-and this, to a large part, is due to the high standards to which we maintain our laboratory environment.
Critical determinants of the function and success of an IVF laboratory are people, procedures, equipment. We look forward to another successful year fully refreshed, ready for exciting and rewarding work which we love helping our hundreds of patients to make their families complete.
Howe...ver, Equipment Validation and Monitoring of all critical equipment that is used in the processing of gametes and embryos is paramount.
This necessitates the closure of the lab function and we shall be closing the embryological laboratory during the Christmas period from 22nd December commencing treatment again in the New Year from the 8th January.
Closing the laboratory facility which runs 7 days a week allows staff to organise annual maintenance and offers down time to thoroughly clean the lab without risking egg or embryo viability and furthermore to validate all the vitally important equipment that your success depends upon.
Any concerns patients having treatment around this time can always contact the clinic.
On behalf of Dr Thackare, Senior Medical Consultant and the PR for the London Women’s Clinic Wales & Bristol, Dr Spiros Liatsikos and all the staff from Swansea, Cardiff and Bristol we would like to send our Warmest thoughts and best wishes to you all, may you enjoy a wonderful holiday and a very happy New Year where your dreams become a beautiful reality.

We came to LWC Swansea for our treatment and have to say everyone who works there is absolutely amazing!!! We went in heartbroken at the thought of not being able to conceive naturally and walked out with our beautiful princess Carys who is now a happy, healthy, mischievous 4yr old!!!! We cannot thank them enough for our beautiful, precious miracle and would definitely recommend them to everyone who is unfortunate enough to find themselves in the same position as us.

User

We came to LWC Swansea after a terrible couple of years of lost blood tests, inaccurate results and misinformation. From our very first appointment with Mr Mamiso, I felt in safe hands. We left with no question unanswered (I had lots) and were given some hope. I don't know how many visits we made to the clinic, but it came to feel very familiar and so welcoming. All the staff at the clinic made everything and anything seem possible - everyone we met there was so positive and supportive. I felt so beaten by everything we'd been through, but I'll never ever forget how they buoyed me up and kept me going. I tell everyone and anyone I can about our experience with LWC. Thank you xx

My Husband and I started ivf treatment in January 2017 at Cardiff's clinic. We had one cycle of ivf lite and it was successful on our 3rd transfer. We welcomed our baby boy last month and we can't thank all the staff and our consultant Dr Spiros enough.

User

Just amazing. We received fantastic care in both of our cycles and really felt that the staff became our friends. We were made to feel at ease, supported and really looked after. Our concerns and anxieties were put to rest at all times. In a time where everything seems negative they really do help to make the treatment more of an 'enjoyable' experience. We will be forever grateful for their help, compassion and helping us to create our miracle baby boys. Thank you x

User

If it was for LWC Swansea our little miracle wouldn't of been here... The staff in Swansea and Cardiff are fantastic xx

User

I had fertility treatment over 10 years ago from the London women’s clinic Cardiff and I have a beauty healthy little girl. I am very grateful for the help you provided at the time .

User

Cannot thank this clinic and the staff that work there enough! Without them it’s safe to say we wouldn’t be where we are today, it was a long road for us but we’re glad we persevered, these ladies are great, even when under pressure. We will come and see you all in the new year!

User

Angels in uniforms!! That's what these people are, who quite possibly don't know just what they do for people and the impact they have on their lives!

The compassion & love we felt when going through our years of treatment was overwhelming, our baby boy was due yesterday but doesn't want to make an appearance just yet, without them we wouldn't be here & believing that " Dreams really do come true "

When our treatment came to an end we had tears on leaving as our experience had been so amazing and it felt like home. We promise to visit in Jan all being well!

Thank you so much!! even though those words will never be enough xx

Clare & Hayley xx

All the team at LWC were fantastic the whole way through our treatment. Mr M was amazing. We wouldn't have our gorgeous Jamie Wynne without you guys!

User

After 10 years of unsuccessful treatment and at a point where we had almost given up, the staff at the Cardiff clinic were there for us and our daughter is now 17 months old. We can't thank them enough.

User

Absolutely wonderful welcoming staff! My triplets are now 2years & words cannot describe how grateful I am to every one involved who helped Me a mum, especially Mr Mamiso he is absolutely marvellous, such a genuinely nice person! X

User

Absolutely amazing service by all involved, Would highly recommend. After having a little help and advice I ended up conceiving naturally without needing to go ahead with the IVF even though we had everything ready to go. Our little miracle is now 18 weeks old and we couldn't be more happier that she is here with us today, Not many people know our story but for those who will read this there's always a happy ending.

Because we no longer require our medication we have donated it back to The London's Women's Clinic to help those in need. I have been advised it will be shared so many families will benefit from this if they need it. Good Luck to those who are trying, it's the most amazing feeling in the world becoming a parent xx

User

Very professional and informed employees who didn't mind listening to my questions n concerns and solving them accordingly ....I love Dr. Barton. He's been wonderful and I'm glad I got a caring dr whose patient with me.... Thanks to all the staff at the LWC

User

The place is clean and tidy and very well presented. I was a donor one year ago and had to go to numerous appointments over a space of 4 months, I think I got took in on time maybe 2/3 times. The punctuality of there appointments is quite bad however the nurses are very nice there when you eventually get taken in to your appointment. I decided after one year to donate my eggs again, I was booked in for a consultation again last week and I was kept waiting 40 minutes so I ended up walking out as I could not wait any longer. Considering this is a private service I think this is unacceptable. So my advice is if there's any people out there who want to donate there eggs but have a busy work schedule don't go here

User

The staff were ok at the Cardiff branch but found when I went to Swansea for treatment it was an in and out process not very welcoming. I also found every time I went there It was costing me money. 1st iui failed didn't feel aftercare was very good. A year later went to crgw staff were warm and friendly all costs were explained before going ahead with treatment and much cheaper and it worked I now have a beautiful boy that is nearly 2. I personally wouldn't use the London women's clinic again.
