About The Marram Grass

The Marram Grass Cafe was opened to share the owners passion for great food and drink. At the Cafe, Ellis and Liam use the great local produce throughout the menu and sell a range of local beverages, all of which are served with a smile : )

The Marram Grass Description

Located on a main route to Newborough Forest and Llanddwyn Beach, and with being placed on the Anglesey Coastal Path, The Marram Grass Cafe is ideally situated for stopping off to refresh, re-energise and to enjoy some real homemade food, either within the clean, modern and characteristic building, the surrounding gardens or under the sheltered patio area.

The calm before the storm. The team are arriving, prepping before tonight’s service. The bros are pottering round making plans. Ken’s on the farm bringing in today’s vegetables. Captain Kev and Big Al are up on the roof pushing forward with the accommodation. And this beaker is sitting here, minding its own business, waiting for it’s time to shine #Anglesey #WeGoAgain #momentum #progress #excitement

was absolutely outstanding lovely setting and lush food and to top it off the staff was amazing couldn’t do enough for you to make you feel welcome and add to the experience of a great meal.

Me and my wife traveled from the Northeast of England to eat here tonight and was not disappointed 100% will travel back one day to eat again

User

Went there last week and was highly impressed with the food - really top notch! Also, the service was exceptional - as good as anything I've experienced... a couple of days previously my wife got food poisoning. She was under doctor's orders to eat only very bland food, which I relayed when booking online. The front and back of house staff couldn't have been more helpful in giving her a bespoke - and delicious - meal! It's odd that despite us all raving about our meals, it was the 'bland' one which made the biggest impression! Great food and service.

User

Well I have eaten in some top class restaurants but I can honestly say this is one of the best places I have had the privilege to eat at!

We visited The Marram Grass today for our family Christmas lunch. Our mum is never keen on eating out as she always feels disappointed... but not today.

Imaginative, quirky and hospitable are three words I would use to describe.

Starter of vegetable soup, with various 'help yourself' accoutrement such as beetroot popcorn, wild rice and delicious breads was a treat.

Main course of all the normal sidings to a roast lunch, and the meats (turkey, beef and partridge) were superb.

A delightful little cleanser (Barrie style) followed by a delicious and beautifully presented dessert. We took our own wine happy in the knowledge we would pay corkage, but as it was Christmas, they said they didn't want to charge! Seriously nice touch. Service was outstanding, nothing was too much. A great place that, if didn't live 145 miles away, I'd frequent often. I'll be back as soon as they'll have me. Shed eating is here to stay.

P.S we left a bottle of wine that we didn't drink as the staff and owners were all eating later in the day. Much deserved! Thank you for looking after me, my mother and the rest of us so nicely. Hopefully return soon. Merry Xmas. WB

We had the pleasure of dining at the Marram Grass which is located on our caravan site last night. What a unique and wonderful experience it was. Fine dining at its best! We sampled treacle bread with pork fat and paprika butter, goats cheese with beetroot and for main we had the surf and turf for two. So many flavours and all Absolutely delicious . Followed by the best baked Alaska! Would definitely recommend.

User

We had the lunch taster menu today everything about it was gorgeous and I had my first Oyster - ambience and staff were lovely would recommend

User

We celebrated our wedding anniversary on Saturday at The Marram Grass. Delicious, beautifully presented food (how do you think of those combinations?) Excellent customer service and lovely atmosphere. Thank You.

P.s We also love the pop up bar!!

User

The Marram Grass is more than a MUST VISIT kind of restaurant, it's a MUST VISIT REPEATEDLY!

Their menu, guided by the seasonal crops and the flair and imagination of Chef Ellis Barrie is constantly changing and evolving, providing you a new experience at every single visit! And I mean that because I've never eaten the same thing twice. Ever. And I've been going regularly for about 10 years!!

Yesterday again, had some fantastic food! (2nd visit in 2 weeks)

I forgot what it is because the taste just blows my mind every time but this time my forgetfulness was aided by a NEW ADDITION to the site:

Adi, AKA the GIN KING!

I don't like gin. Actually I didn't think I liked gin until Adi showed me what gin is meant to taste like. Like a flavour? Just say it and he sort it out right there and then! With encyclopeadic knowledge of the stuff he creates his own flavours and infusions on site, on request!

Yesterday was a particularly beautiful evening to make the most of the pop up's terrace, sipping gin and a good old fashioned Aviator, listening to reggae.

I was still singing "pass the dutchie" when I woke up.

The food and drink give you so much pleasure, The Marram Grass is more than a cafe or restaurant, it's a bone fide attraction for Anglesey.

Check it out. BOOKING RECOMMENDED.

Owenna, Sue, Gill and I had a wonderful lunch at MARRAM GRASS. A day to remember. The taster menu was exquisite and each course new and exciting. The young woman who served us introduced each course with ease and skill. The service was marvellous. Then Ellis came to say hello and have photos with us. We are so thrilled.

Thank you to all your team and your brothers Ellis. We'll be back again .

After seeing the owners on Saturday morning kitchen and at the NEC caravan show we just had to try this place out. The menu may seem a tad on the expensive side but it is so worth it the food was absolutely phenomenal and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming...
