Dear Facebook friends, if you have a moment do look at our last video from Tal-y-llyn. We thank all who have stayed with us during the last fourteen years. It has been a challenge but we have lived to tell the tale and have enjoyed nearly every minute! The Old Rectory on the lake will now revert to a private home.

Thanks to Peter Matthews from St Mary's Church opposite for arranging this farewell fly pass by the HM Coastguard helicopter this afternoon.

A Tal-y-llyn factoid:- Did you know that April 10th is the 100th day of the year (101st in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar? There are 265 days remaining until the end of the year so all the more reason to enjoy today's stunning afternoon sunshine!

Sadly the dolphins were not around to see this rainbow a few minutes ago.

After fourteen years at Tal-y-llyn we have decided to call it a day and move onto pastures new .......... but we intend to go out with a splash! As our award winning bed and breakfast will cease trading we have decided to mark this milestone by welcoming some new creatures temporarily to the waters at the bottom of our garden. A few weeks ago Chef Ricky went swimming with dolphins in Mexico and when we told those who run the huge aquarium at Playa de Carmen that dolphins were... often seen off the coast at Tywyn and Aberdyfi in relatively cold waters, the trainers said they would love to see how their creatures, who were all born in captivity, would react to the waters in here Wales. In this short video Ricky explains how four amazing creatures have crossed The Atlantic to enjoy a few days R&R here in southern Snowdonia. Do share this to make them feel truly welcome!

This has been our best year for primroses here at The Old Rectory on the lake.

Another stunning early evening here at Tal-y-llyn. Social media now tells us there are exactly nine months to Christmas Day! We wonder what exciting things will happen in that time?

Its been the strangest of days weatherwise. Snowing up the pass while the setting sun down the valley bounces off the mountain opposite.

Happy St David's Day from Tal-y-llyn.

Sadly today's weather was not a patch on yesterday's record breaking one when it was almost hot enough to sun bathe! Oh well back to being cold again!

Three more swans have now landed at Tal-y-llyn taking the total to five! This is the most we have seen here on the lake and long may they stay!

Well 2019 has started with the mildest of days ever and as the sun slipped into the sea down at the coast here at Tal-y-llyn we were treated to the most glorious of light and colours - Welsh nature at it's very best. This cannot last for long!
