Cosy pub. Decent pub grub. All good!

Was staying just down the road and The Old Ship was recommended to us, especially the shoulder of lamb. Was not disappointed! The lamb was gorgeous and the ale divine, enjoyed the meal in front of an open fire and greeted and treated with a happy and friendly service.

Staying in Betws-y-Coed, we took a chance and arrived at the Old Ship without a booking on Sunday evening but managed to find a free table easily enough. There was a single chap behind the bar serving drinks and taking food orders which I thought could slow things up but he was very quick turning things round so no real delay. I ordered the locally sourced Rib-eye which was absolutely gorgeous, cooked to a turn with a mild peppercorn sauce, chips & veg, best steak I've ever eaten for less than £50. My wife chose the shoulder of lamb which was also cooked exquisitely - tender enough that you didn't even need to cut, it just fell
off the bone, exceptionally tender and tasty. By far the best meal we had in the area, and a venue we would thoroughly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic food. Been twice in one week and definitely recommend this place. Nice and cozy traditional pub, love it

We really enjoyed an evening meal at The Old Ship. An excellent choice of real ales followed by similarly locally sourced food served in a completely unpretentious setting. The British pub near its finest.

Good menu with plenty of choice. Excellent portion sizes. Local produce.

Delicous starter of smoked trout salad my main meal was the mussels which was a bit heavy for me my fault the lamb looked delicious we were a group of 10 so felt a bit squashed in but on the whole nice place and will definitely be going back to try the yummy looking lamb

Visited many times now and always had a great meal. Lovely atmosphere and the staff are always pleasant and helpful. Can't say enough.

Fabulous pub with loads of character and a roaring fire in the centre of the village of Trefriw in the Conwy Valley. I would recommend the pepper pot beef with ginger. There is a large beer garden at the back with an area overlooking the river... delightful.
