The Oriel House was built in 1760 in the tradition of other great Welsh houses as a private residence and remained so for 156 years. It was then acquired and turned into a boys' preparatory school until closing its doors to its last pupils in 1969. An old picture of the Oriel House can be seen in the reception area which dates back to the 1920s.

Today the Oriel House Hotel is a FOUR STAR family run hotel which has 39 en-suite bedrooms, Terrace Restaurant, Bar and Health & Leisure club. We also offer a wide range of conference and banqueting facilities and specialize in wedding celebrations.
