Hello, I'm a newbie at the Owls Trust too! I'm Boris the Bengal Eagle Owl. My feathers have got a bit ruffled in the strong winds over the weekend but today is a beautiful day here in Llandudno. Come over and see me, I'd love to meet you. If you can't get here today, don't forget we are open every day and it is completely free to come in.

Hello everyone, I'm Brian the Bookbook Owl and I've just moved in at the Owls Trust! I'm settling in quickly and making friends with my neighbours. Some of you may know that my kind of owl can be found in Australia (as well as New Zealand and Indonesia). And guess what? Next door but one to me is Sheila the kookaburra, and just along the path is Freddie the Tawny Frogmouth - both also native to Australia! I've definitely fallen on my feathers here, this is going to be great!

SADLY, THIS TIME WE LOST THE BATTLE TO SAVE THE BARN OWL. With the help of our brilliant vets this little one, a brand new wild Barn Owl youngster, has managed to "hang on". X rays proved it had no skeletal injuries, bloods came back clear but the brain and the legs had no connections. He simply had no feeling in his legs or his feet. It is a very fine line between hoping things will get better and recognizing that you are asking for too much. To prevent any further suffer...ing we made the decision to put him to sleep this evening. Let's hope tomorrow brings better news.....!! Often we can make a difference, just not today. www.theowlstrust.org

BARN OWL IN DISTRESS..! We had a call around 8pm.......and now it get's tricky......from a mum who's son had just found an owl on the road. He picked it up, got a box from a fast food outlet and then, via bike and car, brought it to us. We were confidently expecting it to be a Tawny Owl because it normally is. But this turned out to be a Barn Owl. We met up at the Farm Park at Bodafon late this evening .....but this little one needed huge help so we brought it home. It is a w...ild male Barn Owl. Very much under weight , cold and distressed. It has no impact injuries so we have carried out our usual triage. No photos for this wonderful owl yet. We shall see what the morning brings. Sometimes they astound you,......and sometimes you lose the battle. Fingers crossed...... www.theowlstrust.org

ENDANGERED OWL......! CAN YOU HELP US PLEASE ? I don't know very much about social media but I have seen that it can, sometimes, work for the good bits. Back in 2007 we, The Owls Trust, loaned a male Brown Fish Owl to the World Owl Trust in Cumbria. We have it's closed leg ring number to prove that this bird belongs to us. Sadly this male failed to breed with their female and we have asked for the bird to come back to us as we have two, ready and waiting females, who could b...e up to the task of saving this endangered owl. I have sent our two females to Enrico Albertini in Italy who is extraordinary and is the only person in the world to breed owls that no one else can, including the Pel's Fishing Owl. Because of historical differences between us and Tony Warburton at the World Owl Trust he has chosen to not allow this, so important male Brown Fish Owl, to have the opportunity to breed and possibly, save this fabulous owl from extinction. Some years ago, after the World Owl Trust fell apart and left their base in Cumbria, our owl was moved to Northern Ireland to the World of Owls. I have an email from Tony, when I asked if we could have our male back to breed. He said only if we give him back our "grumpy" Grommit, a White Faced Scops Owl that I must admit........came from the World Owls Trust. What nonsense.
How good is social media and how much pressure can we apply......? I have two female Brown Fish Owls in Italy that really do need a bloke to broker the deal and save this extraordinary owl. We now know where our male that we so much need is. Either at The World Owl Trust or still in Northern Ireland at The World of Owls.
Shall we take this out for a run and just see if Facebook can, indeed, make a difference ? Replying to us would be brilliant but to get our male owl back you will, please, have to address the guys who are holding it hostage.... Our girls are sitting in Italy, laying eggs for no reason, and this specie could be finally extinct if you guys don't help us.....!! www.theowlstrust.org

Hello everyone!! I'm 15 weeks old today and look how much I have grown. My body still hasn't caught up with the size of my feet though! I am now living at the Owls Trust at our base in Bodafon Farm Park and I am loving meeting people. My neighbours are Pedro and Wallace and Kilmousky. Life is great!
