The River Bed Description
The space
The River Bed at Dolfor is a romantic fishing /writers hut with whitewashed walls and a deliciously comfortable bed entwined in fairy lights looking straight onto the river. There are books and games, blankets and free fair trade organic tea, coffee and hot chocolate. It is also like camping; There is no heating (we bring you amazing hot water bottles at dusk), the hot shower is outside (overlooking the river and attached to an ancient ash) the loo is a compost loo, the kitchen is outside under canvas awnings and all cooking is on an open fire (firewood provided). It is situated at the bottom of our wild and overgrown garden in a little woodland glade which is exclusively yours while you are with us.
Guest access
Our guests have private use of the whole camp space. There is a fully equipped simple outdoor kitchen, outdoor river side shower, a compost toilet and a fire pit with firewood, kindling and all you need to cook on a camp fire. You are very welcome to help yourself to salad from our polytunnel or anything else we might have growing in the garden and if you can fish, you can try your luck with the delicious sewin (sea trout) in the river. You can also enjoy our beautiful wildflower meadow; take the hammock and string it up between the trees and watch red kites, buzzards and herons glide overhead or take a picnic blanket and loll beneath the buttercups!
Interaction with guests
We want our guests to have the freedom to have as much space as they need to unwind and relax whilst at the same time feeling a bit looked after! Every night we bring down hot water bottles to keep the bed cosy. We also offer a one pot supper (to reheat on the campfire) on arrival and a homemade breakfast (warm fresh bread, jams, local honey and a pot of tea or coffee) delivered in a basket each morning. We can advise on camp fire cooking technique, tell you our favourite walks, recharge phones and gadgets, wash wet and muddy clothes and generally be around as little or as much as you like. We also have a beautiful on-site massage treatment room from which Jessie offers delicious holistic massage (and from July, organic facials! ) to help you unwind after a day of pounding the cliffs, or seriously relaxing reading in bed while the rain drips through the trees!
