Overlooking one of the several local former mining villages, this area is a moderate climb on the Ebbw Valley Ridgeway walk from the lane off Pantyresk Road, taking 10 to 15 minutes. Once you are in amongst the trees the bustle of the A467 is unheard and as you progress upwards you feel much further from civilisation than you actually are; in this lies much of its appeal. An elderly local lady once regaled me with stories of her childhood adventures around here; I suspect that tales of Sunday School outings from the local Baptist church were not just fanciful invention, so maybe the hymn of 1763 was sometimes sung here. It was certainly never far from my thoughts on my own visits.

This is nothing more than a large rock sticking out of the ground about 3m high and 5m wide on the side of a mountain. There was a good view until the soft wood forest obscured it.
Locally known. Not worth visiting
