The Royal Hotel Llangollen

Fabulous time, room nice and big, very clean. Breakfast delightful and staff very pleasant.

I am absolutely appalled. My partner and I stayed there last night (28/10/2017) for one evening. We turned up, to an old-ish styled hotel (not a problem), first of all, the public bathrooms were in an appalling state. Secondly, when getting our room- we opened the door to an old- freezing cold twin room- at the front of the building on a noisy main road (not at the lake view room we were promised and paid for). The windows were single glazed- and there was a gap between the window therefore making the room so cold and it was so noisy. Secondly, when we switched the bathroom light on, it made such a loud noise we didn't bother using the light again. On my partners side of the bed he had a pipe right above his head that did not stop leaking water all night- therefore lead us to moving the beds to the other end of the room I am not over exaggerating when i say this, the room was that cold, loud and damp- I had to put a towel over the windows to not only keep out the draft, but attempt to stop the banging due to the wind. I have woken up today full of a cold- the room was in a terrible condition. We had pre- paid to go on excursions today but due to how ill i have woken up, we are back at home and i am in bed.. It has ruined by birthday weekend. THIS HOTEL IS A SHAMBLES. Please read many reviews before booking- dont waste your money, time and most importantly.. DON'T MAKE YOURSELF ILL!!

Lovely hotel. Not too modernised so hasn't lost it's charm. Friendly, helpful staff.

We only stayed 1 night. Room was adequate, everything you needed but no frills. Breakfast cooked fresh and served at table. Limited choice of cereals.

super hotel. great staff. food was nice. best place i have stayed in llangolen so far and i have been going for a few years now. would recomend!!!!!

Hated it. Hated the fact I made a brew in the room and the little milks were 4 month out of date and made me wretch. Hated the kids running up and down the corridor all night. I laughed at the fact I couldn't turn the TV on because the batteries were missing from the remote. The bed was so uncomfortable and sprung if one of moved the other did too. Didn't stay a second night, moved on to the Bryn howel hotel, and it's quite nice.

Though old fashioned it keeps with the character of the old building great views of the river good location and very reasonable

Stayed for one night on business. Views over the river were great and the room is nice enough, a little tired maybe but nothing too dramatic. No hot water though and no heating, the man on reception was curt both on the phone and in person which didn't help. The cleaners knocked on my door at 8 and 8:30 so I felt hounded out of my room. The first time they knocked and instantly opened the door when I was still in bed!
