Review: 'Our other two B&Bs (Port Rush and Derry) were a letdown after our stay in Cairn Bay Lodge. The location, with the quiet and beauty of Ballyhome Bay, yet within walking distance of Pickie Park and the castle area, was perfect. The room was big, bright, clean and airy, with an outstanding en suite bathroom. The breakfast included a far greater variety than average, and was wonderfully well prepared. The staff couldn\'t have been more genuinely helpful or welcoming. When my husband and I return to Bangor, we will be booking at Cairn Bay Lodge

User

Don’t forget we’re closed this week! We’ll be back next Tuesday 17th.

What a wonderful visit we had in Bangor. My husband, John, and I were treated with the most lovely hospitality. The room was cozy, the view was breathtaking, the food was delightful and our hosts, Chris and Jenny and their staff, were so accommodating. If I could rate it 10 stars, I would. Thanks for making our journey fantastic - all the way from Caseville, Michigan, USA

We arrived at The Starfish on an extremely wet day, to be greeted at the door by a very helpful waiter who gave us our choice of table for lunch. The menu had plenty of variety and after placing our order we took in the many nicknacks that were placed about the restaurant. Our lunch came and as well as it being beautifully presented, it was lovely and fresh. The waitress kept us topped up with coffee, which was very welcome on such a cold day too.

A very quirky B&B, with plenty of atmosphere and extremely attentive staff!

Definitely worth a visit......

This place is adorable! The view is stunning and Chris and Jenny were lovely hosts! The breakfast was superb and creative each time. The coffee (important to us) ...off the charts! The homemade breads ...delectable! The lunch chowder ...exceptional! I’ve never met these folks before, I have no bias. My wife and I were just overwhelmed by their hospitality and kindness- we would stay again in a heartbeat! We’d like to try it in the summer someday. - John & Margaret Gunden, Caseville, MI, USA

The Starfish has been on my 'to visit' list for some time. Finally got there three weeks ago (and back again yesterday). Fantastic place to visit, lots of little treasures my children were fascinated by, the friendliest staff and an excellent menu. So much more than the usual 'fry' on the menu. Local crab, avocado, mushroom and baked egg dishes. Lovely views over Ballyholme bay can be enjoyed outside with your dog. One tip though for a Saturday at least is to ring ahead as it's very popular and there are always plenty of tables reserved. Even so the staff will try and fit you in

User

Stayed for two nights. Superb food and lovely staff - highly recommended.

Randomly stopped of for a cappuccino and snack with my 5 year old boy on the way home from school. Loved it.....very homely and festive with a roaring stove. Such a welcoming, child friendly place with different rooms with lots of peculiar decorative items in each. My son had a ball nosing around and the staff are wonderfully welcoming and friendly, not to mention the gorgeous view of the beach. A wonderful little find...we will be back

User

User

I loved it from start to finish. My son and I treated ourselves to an overnight stay. Received a warm welcome from the owner. the decor. Beautiful location too. I will definitely return. Great staff.

I love The Starfish and everything about it, even going to the ladies/gents is a pleasure. I've only ever eaten breakfast there but it is superb. The very warm welcome is lovely every time I've been. Love the food, love the coffee, love the staff. Well done Starfish.

User

I enjoyed a really tasty breakfast this morning... lovely setting and friendly staff... looking forward to my next visit !

User

Good friend took me for lunch. Brilliant - very friendly and helpful staff. Eggs in Purgatory were excellent - great mixture of flavours and cooked and presented to perfection. Old house with features and fittings that I found extremely interesting. Made to feel welcome immediately with staff very happy to talk to you and made time to do this several times. Well done. Great experience will be back.

5 stars doesn't even seem adequate I'd like to give 6!

I was blown away by the lovely late breakfast I enjoyed this morning- My sister-in-law has been telling me to try your food for months and I finally did today with her and my 7 month old daughter and it was superb.

Beautiful fresh, delicious, food in a relaxed and comfortable environment with exceptional staff - I've worked in retail management for a number of years and the service was second to none - All 3 staff members I spoke to today were warm, friendly and went above and beyond - I practically rolled in the door this morning drenched bedraggled and hauling a baby car seat and the dark haired girl was straight out to greet me from that moment on it was a delightful visit - This is a little hidden gem and I will be back for another visit at the first possible opportunity and to try more of the tasty dishes on the menu
