The Towers Outdoor Education Centre Description

We provide high quality residential experiences with the opportunity to access adventurous outdoor activities in a safe and sociable manner. We provide lifelong learning skills through endeavour and personal achievement in a controlled but adventurous environment. We provide purpose built courses and can include environmental awards, geography and ecology. We are available for all age groups. We provide excellent value for money and are committed to maintaining high quality courses at a price which is affordable for the young people of Wolverhampton.
Key benefits to your school. Ofsted reports that residential experiences contribute to raising attainment. Lifelong learning experiences for young people. Tailor made courses designed in collaboration with your school to meet the specific needs of your pupils. Oportunities for young people to develop social skills and to push their own boundaries through challenge and endevour. No risk assessments to write. the Towers is owned and operated by Wolverhampton City Council for the benefit of the young people of Wolverhampton. The centre is also liscenced to A. A. L. A. to provide adventurous activities. Professional advice on all matters concerning outdoor activities and off-site visits.
What the service offers. Residential courses for young people in the primary, secondary and special school sector. Residential courses for the youth sector. Professional development courses for adults including including National Governing Body awards. Advisory service for all outdoor activities within Wolverhampton. Off-site visits advisor, co-ordinator and provider of EVC training, updating and revalidating courses. Adventurous Activity Licence facilitator to Wolverhampton user groups.
Feedback from young people, teachers and headteachers is excellent. 100% of visiting teachers believing that a visit to The Towers raises attainment in other areas. 100% of visiting teachers believing that course participants had increased their social skills. 100% of students and visiting staff enjoying their course at The Towers.

Quick reminder that we are currently recruiting a Technician/Site Supervisor at The Towers Outdoor Education Centre, Capel Curig.
The role is 22.2 hours per week over 3 days (12 month contract). £18,672 pro-rata.
Working in conjunction with another part time Technician/Site Supervisor, the role is largely practical and will involve the maintenance and up keep of the buildings and grounds, maintaining systems such as heating/water and undertaking system checks.

The Friends of The Towers is a group of stakeholders of the centre who consider and provide help or guidance on changes and developments of the The Towers and its functions.
The Friends of The Towers will be meeting at reception of St Matthias School in Wolverhampton on Thursday 11th October at 4pm. If anyone feels they would like to input and join this group, please attend the meeting.
